Poor Single Mom Takes Child To Work,But Never Expect Her Baby Hug The Billionaire CEO And Say Daddy

The Secret Guest at Bennett Industries

The rumble of a tired engine echoed through the dimly lit parking lot as Alice Parker eased her worn out sedan into a vacant space outside Bennett Industries. She checked the dashboard clock: 6:45 p.m., barely on time for her evening shift.

Her heart pounded with a mix of relief and trepidation as she glanced over her shoulder into the back seat. Her three-year-old son Ethan sat strapped into his car seat, his small hands gripping a well-loved stuffed bear.

The bear’s fur was fraying at the edges, and Ethan’s wide, curious eyes met Alice’s with an innocence that always melted her heart. “Mommy is this your work?” he asked, his voice soft but tinged with excitement.

Alice smiled wearily, brushing a strand of chestnut hair from her face. “Yes sweetheart, it’s a big building where Mommy works to help people stay organized. Tonight you get to be my special helper, okay?”

Ethan’s face lit up, his enthusiasm momentarily quelling her guilt. She’d never brought him to work before, as it was strictly against company policy.

With her babysitter calling in sick last minute and no one else to rely on, she was out of options. Missing another shift could mean losing her job, and that wasn’t a risk she could take as a single mom.

Every paycheck mattered, especially with mounting bills and Ethan’s daycare fees. “I’ll be good I promise,” Ethan declared, clutching his bear tightly.

“I know you will baby,” Alice said, leaning over to kiss his forehead. “Just stay close to Mommy okay? This is a very important place and we need to be extra careful.”

Ethan nodded solemnly, his small hand wrapping around hers as they stepped out of the car. The cool evening breeze tugged at Alice’s thin coat as they walked toward the gleaming glass doors of Bennett Industries.

The building towered over them, its sleek modern design reflecting the lights of the city. To Alice, it represented more than just a workplace; it was her lifeline.

It was the only thing keeping her afloat in a sea of challenges. Inside, the lobby was nearly empty, the usual hustle and bustle of the day replaced by a quiet stillness.

Alice’s heels clicked against the polished marble floor as she led Ethan toward the elevators. He stared in awe at the high ceilings and large abstract paintings adorning the walls.

His wonder brought a small smile to her face despite her anxiety. “Mommy it’s like a castle,” he whispered, his voice echoing slightly in the cavernous space.

Alice chuckled softly. “Maybe a little, but this castle has lots of rules so we have to be extra quiet okay?”

Ethan nodded, his wide eyes filled with a mixture of awe and determination. The elevator ride to the 14th floor felt longer than usual as Alice rehearsed her excuses in her head.

If anyone noticed Ethan, she’d say it was an emergency. She’d apologize profusely and promise it would never happen again, but deep down she prayed it wouldn’t come to that.

The doors opened with a soft chime, revealing the familiar sight of rows of cubicles bathed in the glow of fluorescent lights. Most of the desks were empty, their occupants having left hours ago.

A few lights remained on, and the faint sound of typing could be heard in the distance. Alice led Ethan to her cubicle, a small space tucked away in a corner.

She set him up with a coloring book and crayons she’d hastily grabbed from home. “Here you go sweetheart, you can draw pictures while mommy works okay?” she said, arranging the crayons in a neat row.

Ethan beamed up at her. “I’ll draw you a surprise!”

Alice kissed his cheek and smiled. “I can’t wait to see it.”

As she settled into her chair and logged into her computer, the familiar rhythm of work began to calm her nerves. Spreadsheets filled the screen, each one demanding her attention.

She worked quickly but meticulously, her fingers flying across the keyboard. Every now and then she glanced at Ethan, who was engrossed in his coloring.

His little tongue poked out in concentration as time passed in relative quiet. The soft hum of the office was broken only by the occasional sound of Ethan humming to himself.

Alice began to relax, the weight of her worries momentarily lifting as she focused on her tasks. But just as she started to think she might get through the night unnoticed, a deep voice startled her.

“Miss Parker.” Alice’s heart leapt into her throat as she turned to see Nathan Bennett, the CEO of Bennett Industries.

He was standing just outside her cubicle, towering at 6’2″ with a sharp jawline and piercing blue eyes. Nathan was an imposing figure, and his tailored suit and air of quiet authority only added to his commanding presence.

He was known for his no-nonsense approach and his ability to spot mistakes a mile away. But tonight his gaze wasn’t on her computer screen; it was on the small child sitting in her cubicle.

“Mr. Bennett,” Alice stammered, standing so quickly that her chair rolled back and bumped into the desk. “I… I didn’t realize you were still here.”

Nathan’s eyes narrowed slightly, his expression unreadable. “I had some work to finish. I wasn’t expecting to find additional personnel.”

Alice flushed, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. “I’m so sorry sir, my babysitter canceled last minute and I didn’t have anyone else to watch my son.”

“I promise he won’t be any trouble,” she added. Nathan’s gaze shifted to Ethan, who was staring up at him with wide, curious eyes.

The boy clutched his stuffed bear and smiled brightly. “Hi! I’m Ethan. Are you mommy’s boss?”

Nathan’s lips twitched almost imperceptibly, as if suppressing a smile. “Yes I am.”

Ethan nodded, seemingly satisfied with the answer. “Mommy works really hard. She’s the best!”

Alice’s face turned an even deeper shade of red. “Ethan sweetie, let’s let Mr. Bennett get back to his work.”

But before she could guide Ethan back to his spot, the boy ran up to Nathan. He wrapped his tiny arms around the man’s leg, hugging him tightly.

“Bye-bye daddy!” Ethan declared, his voice filled with innocent glee. The room fell silent.

Nathan froze, staring down at the child in shock, while Alice’s breath caught in her throat. Her mind raced, trying to comprehend what had just happened.

“Ethan!” she exclaimed, rushing forward to pull him away. “I am so so sorry Mr. Bennett. I don’t know why he said that.”

“It’s fine,” Nathan said, though his voice was tinged with an emotion Alice couldn’t quite place. He gently pried Ethan’s arms from his leg and straightened his suit.

“Children have active imaginations,” he remarked. He gave Alice one last look, his expression unreadable, before turning and walking away.

The soft click of his shoes echoed down the corridor until he disappeared around the corner.
