Young janitor comforted the crying twins… then discovered they were the daughters of millionaire CEO

An Unexpected Encounter

Mari never imagined that a simple act of kindness could change her life. When she found two lost, crying little girls in the corner of a busy office building, she didn’t expect it to lead to anything more than a quick helping hand.

But as the girls’ father, a successful CEO, appeared in the doorway, Mari found herself drawn into a world far beyond what she had ever known. Little did she know her chance encounter with him would not only awaken new dreams but also challenge everything she thought she knew.

Mari had been working as a janitor in the city’s tallest building for nearly a year. It wasn’t glamorous, but it paid the bills and kept her going while she worked toward something bigger. Her dream was to eventually open her own small business, perhaps a cafe.

She had a plan and a quiet determination. Every day was another step closer to her goal. Her life was filled with routine and simplicity, and she was content with that—or at least she had been until today.

It was just another average Thursday. Mari was in the middle of cleaning one of the empty offices on the 20th floor when she heard soft sobbing from behind the large glass window. She paused, listening carefully, and then stood up from her work to investigate.

At first, she couldn’t see anyone, but then her eyes landed on two small figures sitting on the plush couch by the window. Two little girls, maybe around 4 years old with tear-streaked faces, were huddled together. Mari’s heart immediately went out to them.

She had always had a soft spot for children. Seeing these two lost and upset made her forget about the dusting and mopping that needed to be done. She quietly walked over to them and crouched down to their level.

“Hey, are you two okay?” she asked, her voice gentle but reassuring.

The girls looked up at her, their big blue eyes filled with confusion and fear. The older one, the one with the lighter blonde hair, sniffled and wiped her nose on her sleeve.

“We’re lost,” she said, her voice small.

Mari’s heart tightened.

“Where’s your mom or dad? Do you know where they are?”

The girls shook their heads.

“We were with Daddy, but we don’t know where he went,” the younger one said, her voice trembling.

Mari took a deep breath, trying to remain calm for their sake. She gently took the hand of the older girl.

“Don’t worry, sweetie. I’m going to help you find your daddy, okay?” she said with a smile, though inside she was beginning to feel a bit panicked herself.

The twins nodded, their small hands clutching at Mari. She guided them toward the elevator, her mind racing. She had no idea how they had ended up here, so far from whoever had brought them.

As she approached the front desk, the receptionist looked up with a raised eyebrow.

“Is something wrong?” the receptionist asked, a touch of concern in her voice.

“They’re lost,” Mari explained quickly. “I think they were separated from their father.”

The receptionist immediately grabbed the phone to call security. But before Mari could stop her, the elevator doors opened and in rushed a tall man, his face full of worry.

He was dressed in an expensive suit, his blonde hair neatly styled. His piercing blue eyes locked onto the girls in an instant.

“Ellie! Emma!” he called out, his voice a mixture of relief and panic.

The twins ran toward him, throwing themselves into his arms. Mari stood off to the side, quietly watching the emotional reunion. She could see how much this man loved his daughters and how grateful he was to have found them again.

“Thank you,” he said, looking up at Mari with gratitude. “I don’t know what happened. They were right beside me and then I turned around.”

He sighed, clearly exhausted from the frantic search.

“I’m sorry you had to be involved.”

Mari shook her head, offering a soft smile.

“It’s no problem at all. I’m just glad they’re okay.”

The man smiled back, but there was something about him that seemed distant or distracted. Maybe it was the stress of the moment or maybe he was just used to running a thousand things at once.

But Mari noticed how he seemed to have his life together and how confident he was even in such a stressful situation. She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of admiration for him.

“I’m Edward,” the man said, holding out his hand. “Edward Bennett.”

“Mari,” she replied, shaking his hand.

“Are you working here?” he asked, his curiosity evident.

She nodded.

“Yes, I’m just the janitor. I work on the cleaning crew for the building.”

Edward gave her a genuine smile.

“Well, thank you for your kindness today, Mari. I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t been here.”

Mari blushed slightly, not used to receiving praise for something so simple.

“It was nothing. Just doing my job.”

He nodded, but there was a grateful look in his eyes.

“We’ll make sure to keep a closer eye on them from now on,” Edward said, picking the girls up one at a time and holding them close.

“I really appreciate your help. Would you mind if I treated you to dinner sometime to thank you properly?”

Mari froze for a moment, not sure how to respond. She was just a janitor and he was a wealthy businessman. She couldn’t imagine why someone like him would want to spend time with her.

But then she saw the sincerity in his expression. For the first time in a long while, she thought maybe she wasn’t so out of place after all.

“Sure,” she said, a little hesitantly but with a smile. “That would be nice.”
