Two Mysterious Twin Girls Moved Into His House — The Single Dad Had No Idea Who They Really Were…

The Unexpected Tenants

Daniel Cole never meant to turn his tiny rental into a battleground. He was just a 36-year-old single dad with overdue bills, grease under his fingernails, and an 8-year-old daughter who still slept with a stuffed fox.

When the landlord hiked the rent again, Daniel did the only thing he could think of. He cleared out the spare room and posted a desperate ad: cheap month-to-month, no questions.

At 10:00 that night, two girls showed up on his doorstep. They were twins with the same blonde hair, the same sharp blue eyes, and the same soaked hoodies clinging to college sweatshirts.

They called themselves Harper and Jade. They paid a week in cash and smiled a little too politely when they said they just needed somewhere quiet.

By morning, they’d made coffee, packed Lily’s lunch, and told his kid she could call them anytime, even if dad’s busy.

When a black sedan rolled up outside and a man in a tailored suit said their surname like a threat, Daniel realized he hadn’t rented to normal college girls at all. He’d let someone else’s secrets into his house without the faintest idea how dangerous their last name really was.

Before we start, tell us in the comments where are you watching from.

Daniel woke before his alarm, worry heavier than sleep. For a second, he forgot about the twins. Then he smelled coffee. He stepped into the hallway, tugging on a faded t-shirt.

The spare bedroom door was open. One of the girls—Harper, if he remembered right—stood in the kitchenette with steam rising from a mug. Her blonde hair was twisted into a messy knot. Her sister Jade sat at the tiny table scribbling in a notebook.

“Oh hey,” Jade said, glancing up.

“Sorry, we didn’t mean to invade your space. You were out of filters, but I improvised. Hope that’s okay.”

Daniel blinked.

“You made coffee in this kitchen? Bravest thing I’ve seen all year.”

Harper smiled.

“Relax. We cleaned as we went. And we, um, made Lily a lunch too. Just bread and peanut butter.”

The mention of his daughter tightened his chest.

“You went in her room?”

“Just peeked,” Harper said quickly.

“We heard her coughing last night. She’s really cute, by the way.”

Daniel rubbed a hand over his face. They’d paid cash, signed an agreement, and promised no parties or drama. They were polite—too polite.

Lily padded in wearing mismatched socks, her brown hair a tangle. She stopped when she saw the twins, clutching her stuffed fox.

“Hi,” Jade said softly.

“We’re the room people.”

Lily frowned.

“Dad says strangers aren’t supposed to be here.”

Daniel’s ears heated.

“They’re tenants, Lil. They’re going to help us keep the house.”

Harper crouched, keeping a careful distance.

“We’re not here to bother you. If you ever want help with homework, I’m pretty good at math.”

“Jade’s good at everything else,” Jade muttered.

“Rude,” but her eyes were kind.

Lily’s gaze slid to the pink lunchbox on the counter.

“You put stickers on it?”

“Guilty,” Harper said.

“Had some leftover from my planner.”

Something in Lily’s shoulders eased. She nodded once, climbed onto a chair, and started eating. Daniel watched, torn between gratitude and suspicion.
