CEO Thought He Was Done With Love. Until the Woman Who Saved His Life Proved Him Wrong

A Life-Saving Encounter

Ronan Blackwell never saw the car coming.

One moment, he was striding across the street outside his office, his mind buried in numbers and negotiations.

The next: a blaring horn, screeching tires, and sheer panic.

Then a force yanked him back roughly, sending him tumbling onto the sidewalk.

His heart pounded furiously in his chest as he gasped for air, his body still in shock.

When he looked up, the first thing he saw was a pair of wide, honey-brown eyes staring down at him.

A woman, breathless, her hand still gripping the front of his expensive suit.

“Are you insane?” she demanded. “You were two seconds away from being roadkill.”

Ronan blinked, still processing what had just happened.

He was a billionaire, a man used to being in control of everything: his business, his life, and his emotions.

And yet, in the span of one moment, this woman had completely shattered that control and saved his life.

She was beautiful in an effortless way, with long chestnut hair pulled into a loose ponytail and a few strands framing her delicate face.

She wore a simple blouse and jeans—nothing extravagant—but there was something about her.

Something striking.

“I…” He swallowed, trying to find his voice. “You pulled me back.”

She scoffed. “Obviously.”

Ronan pushed himself up, dusting off his suit jacket.

People were still staring, murmuring about how close he had been to disaster.

He hated attention like this.

The woman stood, brushing her hands off.

“You should be more careful.”

He straightened. “I had the right of way.”

She raised an unimpressed brow. “Yeah, well, the car didn’t seem to care.”

Ronan was rarely caught off guard, but this woman—this stranger—spoke to him without an ounce of hesitation.

It was as if he wasn’t one of the most powerful men in the city.

People usually fell over themselves to impress him or to gain his favor.

But she looked like she was seconds away from scolding him again.

For the first time in years, he felt something.

“What’s your name?” he asked.

She hesitated, then sighed. “Olivia Carter.”

“Olivia,” he repeated, as if testing the way it sounded.

He liked it.

She gave him a wary look.

“You’re not going to do something weird like track me down, are you?”

Ronan smirked—no, he grinned.

A real, genuine grin that he hadn’t worn in years.

“I don’t need to track you down, Olivia. I just need to thank you.”

She crossed her arms. “A thank you is enough.”

Something in her tone told him she didn’t want anything else from him.

She wasn’t looking for money or for recognition.

She had saved his life simply because it was the right thing to do, and that intrigued him more than anything.

“Then let me buy you dinner,” he offered.

She looked at him like he had suggested something ridiculous.

“Dinner?”

“Yes,” he said smoothly. “It’s the least I can do.”

She frowned, considering. “You don’t have to. You could just—”

“Olivia,” he interrupted, his voice dropping just slightly. “Let me thank you properly.”

She studied him for a moment, then sighed. “Fine. But only because I’m starving.”

Ronan chuckled.

He didn’t know why, but for the first time in a long time, he was actually looking forward to something.

And that something was Olivia Carter.

An hour later, Olivia found herself sitting in a restaurant so extravagant she felt like she had stepped into a movie scene.

Crystal chandeliers glittered above them, and soft classical music played in the background.

The waitstaff moved with the kind of precision that only came from serving the elite.

She glanced down at the menu, her eyes nearly popping out of her head at the prices.

“Ronan,” she whispered, leaning slightly across the table. “This place is insane. A single appetizer costs more than my rent.”

Ronan, sitting across from her in his perfectly tailored suit, simply smirked—grinned again.

“I told you I’d thank you properly.”

Olivia shook her head. “I was thinking like a burger place. Maybe something with fries.”

He leaned back in his chair, watching her with something unreadable in his eyes.

“I don’t do things halfway.”

She snorted. “Yeah, I’m getting that.”

The waiter arrived, and Ronan ordered without hesitation, choosing a selection of dishes that Olivia would never have dared to pick on her own.

When the waiter turned to her, she hesitated.

“Uh, I’ll have whatever he’s having.”

Ronan chuckled. “Good choice.”

As the waiter left, Olivia exhaled.

“So,” she said, folding her arms on the table. “Who are you exactly?”

Ronan arched a brow. “You don’t know?”

She shrugged. “Should I?”

His lips twitched. “Most people do.”

Olivia rolled her eyes. “Well, I don’t. Enlighten me.”

He tapped his fingers against the table. “Ronan Blackwell, CEO of Blackwell Enterprises.”

Her eyes widened slightly. “Oh.”

“Oh?” he echoed, amused.

“I mean, I’ve heard of Blackwell Enterprises,” she admitted. “But I didn’t exactly memorize the CEO’s face.”

Ronan studied her, intrigued. “You’re refreshing, Olivia.”

She laughed. “Because I don’t fawn over you?”

“Exactly.”

Their food arrived, and Olivia couldn’t help but stare at the beautifully plated dishes.

She took a tentative bite, her eyes widening.

“Okay, wow. This is actually incredible.”

Ronan chuckled, watching her reaction.

He liked the way she didn’t pretend to be impressed by the wealth, but rather by the experience itself.

“So,” she said between bites, “why were you so distracted earlier?”

He hesitated.

“Business must be important if you almost got flattened,” she added.

He exhaled, running a hand through his hair. “Let’s just say I’m used to handling everything alone.”

Olivia tilted her head. “Sounds lonely.”

Ronan blinked. No one had ever put it that way before.

Before he could respond, Olivia reached for her drink.

“Well, consider this a lesson in looking up when crossing the street, Mr. CEO.”

Ronan chuckled. “Noted.”

As the evening continued, something shifted inside him.

He had spent years believing love wasn’t for him, that his heart was too closed off and too damaged.

But Olivia was different.

For the first time in years, Ronan wasn’t so sure he was done with love after all.
