She Pretended to Be His Fiancée, Not Knowing He’s a Billionaire Who’d Fall in Love With Her
The Billionaire’s Proposition
A billionaire hires a waitress to pretend to be his fiance, and what she did left everyone speechless. Ethan Thornton was used to getting what he wanted.
As a self-made billionaire, he had built his empire from scratch, earning him fame, power, and a long list of admirers. But none of that mattered when his former fiance, Vanessa, left him for his biggest rival.
As if the betrayal wasn’t enough, he was invited to their engagement party. Determined to show everyone he had moved on, Ethan concocted a daring plan. He needed a fiance, and he needed one fast.
Late one evening, while nursing his wounded pride at a small diner, his gaze fell on a waitress, Anna Harper. She was nothing like the women in his world.
She wore a plain uniform, a tired but kind smile, and a look of determination in her eyes. On impulse, Ethan made her an offer that would change both their lives.
“Pretend to be my fiance for one month and I’ll make sure you never have to work here again”.
Anna paused, her brow furrowed as if trying to determine whether this was a joke. She wasn’t used to men in tailored suits appearing in her diner at all, much less proposing outlandish deals.
Life for Anna had been a series of relentless struggles. Her dreams of becoming a chef had been shelved long ago, replaced by the daily grind of double shifts and bills that never stopped piling up.
Ethan’s proposal seemed insane, too good to be true, and yet too good to pass up.
“Why me?” she asked skeptically, crossing her arms as she tried to gauge his intentions.
Ethan shrugged.
“You’re normal,” he said bluntly. “I don’t want someone who’s going to try to impress me or make this harder than it needs to be. You’ll play the part and in return your life gets a lot easier”.
Normal. Anna wasn’t sure whether to laugh or be insulted, but the promise of relief from her never-ending financial woes made her pause.
She didn’t know the man in front of her, but his name was familiar enough. Ethan Thornton was a reclusive billionaire, often in the headlines for his business deals and less so for his personal life.
This wasn’t a random prank; he was serious. Anna leaned forward, her voice cautious but tinged with curiosity.
“What’s the catch? There’s always a catch”.
Ethan’s expression softened, and for a brief moment, he looked almost vulnerable.
“You’ll have to convince everyone—my friends, my family, and most importantly Vanessa—that we’re madly in love,” he explained. “It won’t be easy, but if you can do that, I’ll make it worth your while”.
The weight of the offer sank in. Anna thought about her little brother, who still depended on her, and the endless rent reminders taped to her fridge.
One month of pretending; how hard could it be? Yet something in Ethan’s eyes warned her this would be more complicated than she imagined.
“All right,” she said finally, her voice steady. “I’ll do it, but I have conditions”.
Ethan arched an eyebrow.
“Oh?”.
“I’m not a puppet,” Anna stated firmly. “If you want me to help, you’ll treat me with respect and I get half the payment up front”.
A flicker of amusement crossed Ethan’s face.
“Deal”.
Neither of them knew how their lives were about to collide in ways they could not predict. The deal had been struck, but the lines between what was real and what was pretend were already beginning to blur.
The deal was done, but the logistics were far from settled. Ethan had never expected to find himself in such a situation, let alone negotiating terms with a waitress.
Yet Anna’s firm stance had intrigued him, perhaps even impressed him. He wasn’t used to being challenged, especially not by someone who had everything to gain from agreeing with him.
The next day, Ethan sent a sleek black car to pick Anna up from her modest apartment. She hesitated before stepping inside, gripping her worn handbag tightly.
The car’s leather seats and chilled interior were a far cry from the life she knew. As the city blurred past the window, she couldn’t help but wonder what she had signed up for.
Ethan was waiting for her at his penthouse. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed a panoramic view of the skyline, and the minimalist decor spoke of a man who valued precision and control.
He greeted her with a nod, his sharp suit and cold demeanor making her feel out of place.
“Sit,” he said, gesturing toward the sleek marble table in the center of the room.
Anna sat down cautiously.
“So, what’s the plan?”.
Ethan slid a folder across the table.
“This is everything you need to know about me: my background, my family, my business,” he said. “Memorize it. Vanessa and I were together for two years and she knows me well. If you slip up, she’ll see through it immediately”.
Anna opened the folder, her eyes scanning the neatly typed pages. She was surprised at the level of detail.
“You thought this through,” she murmured.
“I don’t do things halfway,” Ethan replied, his tone matter-of-fact. “Now tell me about you. We’ll need a convincing story for how we met”.
Anna hesitated, as her life wasn’t exactly glamorous.
“There’s not much to tell,” she said. “I grew up here, started working at the diner after high school, and that’s about it”.
Ethan frowned.
“We’ll need to embellish,” he suggested. “Let’s say we met when I visited the diner regularly for coffee. I was drawn to your honesty and charm”.
Anna raised an eyebrow.
“Honesty and charm? That’s the best you could come up with?”.
Ethan smirked faintly.
“Would you prefer I say your scrambled eggs changed my life?”.
For the first time, Anna laughed. It was brief, but it softened the tension between them. Ethan found himself surprised by the sound, which was genuine and unguarded.
