My Billionaire Boss Hired Me As His Fake Boyfriend—He Didn't Know I Already Worked For Him

Part 1

I never should have answered the phone when my best friend Megan called me in tears.

She worked for an elite corporate matchmaking agency that catered exclusively to billionaires.

Her biggest client had just ruthlessly rejected his nineteenth blind date of the afternoon.

If she didn’t find a twentieth candidate immediately, he was going to pull all his company’s investments from her agency.

She begged me to step in and just act like a complete disaster.

I only agreed because she promised to pay for my rent and groceries for an entire month.

I quickly prepared my terrible disguise by finding the most oversized jacket available.

A purposefully messy hairstyle gave me the frantic, unhinged appearance I needed.

It seemed like acting totally crazy was the best way to guarantee a rapid rejection.

Upon arriving at the luxury restaurant, my eyes immediately found him sitting alone at a corner table.

The charcoal suit he wore probably cost more than my entire apartment.

Fake confidence propelled my legs forward as my hands slammed onto the wood.

The ridiculous words spilled from my mouth as I babbled about moving to a farm to raise eight children.

Surely, calling security or running for the door would be his next logical move.

Instead, he just watched me with calm, calculating eyes.

All the color drained from my face when I finally got a good look at his features.

It was Tyler.

He was the ruthless CEO of the corporate conglomerate where I worked as a junior data analyst.

He was famously terrifying and demanded absolute perfection from his employees.

He fired people on the spot for breathing too loudly in the executive elevator.

Desperately pulling my oversized collar up helped hide my face from the harsh lighting.

My voice dropped to a raspy whisper as I prayed he wouldn’t recognize me.

“You’re not like the vain, shallow women I usually meet,” he said smoothly.

Panic overwhelmed me, causing me to blurt out that I was simply a struggling student desperate for rent money.

Such a pathetic confession surely had to guarantee my immediate escape.

Tyler leaned closer across the pristine white tablecloth.

“That actually makes this much easier for me,” he whispered.

He explained that his overbearing uncle, Craig, was forcing him to settle down and get married.

Craig was the chairman of the board and controlled Tyler’s massive trust fund.

Tyler offered me twenty million dollars to pretend to be his fake lover for the next six months.

He figured if he brought a completely inappropriate fake girlfriend home, his uncle would drop the demands entirely.

I tried to refuse and walk away.

The amount of money he offered was absolutely life-changing for someone drowning in student debt.

But if I turned him down abruptly, he might demand to know my real identity and ruin my career.

I signed the ridiculous non-disclosure agreement right there using a fake alias.

I thought I could just collect the down payment and avoid him forever at the office.

The next morning, I arrived at work wearing my usual conservative gray pencil skirt and thick glasses.

I kept my head down behind my dual monitors and focused fiercely on my spreadsheets.

My direct supervisor, Dan, marched over to my desk looking completely panicked.

“Tyler needs someone to assist him on a sudden, high-stakes business trip to New York,” Dan said.

“And he specifically requested the junior analyst who compiled the new AI integration report.”

That analyst was me.

I walked into the executive suite with trembling knees and a racing heart.

Tyler sat behind his massive mahogany desk reviewing documents.

He didn’t even look up as he ordered me to pack my bags for a three-day trip.

I had no choice but to follow him to the private airstrip.

When we arrived at the luxury hotel in New York, there was a massive complication waiting for us.

A huge tech convention had completely overbooked the entire building.

The flustered receptionist apologetically handed us a single gold keycard.

“We only have one penthouse suite left, and it has one queen bed,” she said nervously.

Tyler snatched the keycard without saying a single word.

I followed him to the glass elevator in absolute, agonizing silence.

I rushed straight to the bathroom as soon as we entered the lavish suite.

I splashed freezing cold water on my face and tried to remember how to breathe.

My secret burner phone suddenly vibrated loudly against the porcelain sink.

It was the specific phone I used strictly for communicating with Tyler as his fake lover.

I pulled it out and stared at the glowing screen in sheer terror.

“Where are you right now?” the new text message read.

He was sitting right in the next room waiting for me.

He thought his fake lover was ignoring his messages.

He also thought his employee Brenda was just freshening up in the bathroom after a long flight.

I was juggling two entirely different identities in the exact same hotel room.

I quickly typed a frantic reply with shaking fingers.

“I’m at a loud family dinner, I really can’t talk right now.”

Seconds later, Tyler knocked sharply on the heavy wooden bathroom door.

“Brenda, are you going to be much longer in there?” he called out impatiently.

I scrambled to smooth my hair and adjust my glasses.

“Just a minute, sir!”

I replied in my normal voice.

I opened the door and walked out into the main living area.

Tyler was staring at his personal cell phone with a dark, furious frown.

“Is everything alright with the itinerary?”

I asked nervously.

He looked up and stared right through me with those piercing eyes.

“Someone is lying to me,” he said coldly.

He walked toward me with slow, deliberate, predatory steps.

He stopped just inches away from my face, invading my personal space.

He reached out slowly and pulled something directly from my jacket pocket.

It was the burner phone.
