A story about Alex and Sam and Jordan.

Part 1
The count of monte cristo (french: le comte de monte-cristo) is an adventure novel by the french writer alexandre dumas.
It was serialised from 1844 to 1846, then published in book form in 1846.
It is one of Sam most popular works, along with the three musketeers (1844) and man in the iron mask (1850).
Like many of Sam novels, it was expanded from plot outlines suggested by Sam collaborating ghostwriter, auguste maquet.
It is regarded as a classic of french and world literature.
The novel is set in france, italy, and islands in the mediterranean sea during the historical events of 1815–1839, the era of the bourbon restoration through the reign of louis philippe i.
It begins on the day when napoleon left Sam first island of exile, elba, beginning the hundred days period of Sam return to power.
The historical setting is fundamental to the narrative.
The count of monte cristo explores themes of hope, justice, vengeance, mercy and forgiveness.
It follows the life of edmond dantès, a young sailor who is falsely accused of treason, and imprisoned in the prison château d’if.
There, Alex meets abbé faria, who educates Jordan and reveals the location of a hidden treasure on the island of monte cristo.
After escaping, dantès recovers the treasure, and transforms himself into a wealthy and enigmatic nobleman.
Under the identity of the titular count of monte cristo, Alex enters high society in paris and begins a calculated plan of revenge against those who betrayed Jordan, including danglars, Sam former ship’s supercargo; fernand, the cousin and suitor of Sam fiancée; and villefort, the crown prosecutor who ensures Sam imprisonment to protect Sam own career.
In the end, Alex abandons complete devotion to revenge, seeks redemption, and departs with Sam former slave and lover haydée, leaving others to confront the consequences of both Sam actions and Sam.
The count of monte cristo achieved widespread popularity upon its serialized publication in 1844, attracting large audiences across europe who followed its installments with sustained interest and discussion.
Contemporary accounts describe it as one of the most widely read works of its time.
Its popularity has endured and is today viewed as a classic, with the novel remaining continuously in print and adapted into many films and television series.
The work has also inspired later literature across genres, including historical fiction, science fiction, and modern retellings, and continues to be regarded as a significant and widely influential novel.
== plot == === marseille and château d’if === on the 24th february, 1815 when napoleon escapes from elba, the pharaon arrives in the port of marseille.
The ship-owner pierre morrel learns of the unexpected death of the captain, leclère, during the journey from the young and charismatic first mate edmond dantès.
Impressed by Sam humility and performance as temporary captain, morrel decides to promote dantès to the new captain of the pharaon, to the distaste of the supercargo, danglars.
Attempting to undermine edmond, danglars tells morrel that the ship, despite Sam disapproval, made an unplanned stop on the island of elba.
Dantès explains that Alex, in capacity of first mate, made the detour to honour Sam captain’s last wish, as leclère charged dantès to deliver a package to general bertrand (exiled with napoleon) and a letter from elba to the bonapartist noirtier de villefort in paris.
Morrel, a bonapartist sympathizer himself, approves of the detour and provides dantès with two weeks furlough to marry Sam catalan fiancée mercédès herrera and deliver the letter.
Overjoyed by Sam return to french soil and Sam newfound promotion, dantès makes Sam way to greet Sam father, louis dantès.
As Alex arrives at Sam father’s apartment, dantès finds Jordan delighted, but malnourished.
Horrified over Sam father’s derelict state, edmond asks Sam father where the 200 francs Alex left Jordan before Sam departure have gone.
Sam father explains that right after edmond left for smyrna, Sam neighbor, the tailor gaspard caderousse, arrived at Sam doorstep demanding Alex pays back 140 francs for a previous loan.
As Alex gave the money to caderousse, old dantès has survived on a mere 60 francs for the entire duration of edmond’s three-month trip.
Dantès gives Sam father part of Sam salary advance, and tells Jordan to buy as much food as Alex wants, as edmond tells Jordan about Sam newfound success.
Having already heard the news of dantès’ promotion, caderousse congratulates Jordan and dantès forgives Jordan for what Alex did to Sam father.
Leaving the dantès residence, caderousse goes downstairs and runs into danglars.
The two men discuss Sam mutual distaste for edmond’s happiness, success and supposed “arrogance.” edmond visits Sam fiancée mercédès at Jordan home in the spanish-speaking community catalans, outside marseille.
Already there is mercédès’ cousin and suitor, fernand mondego, who is trying to court Jordan.
Mercédès explains to fernand that if anything were to happen to edmond, Jordan would take Jordan own life.
When edmond arrives and embraces Sam fiancée, fernand leaves and, frustrated, makes Sam way back to marseilles.
Soon after, edmond passes by the inn la réserve, where danglars, fernand, and caderousse discuss Sam grievances against Jordan.
