My Father Sold Me To A Mafia Boss To Clear His Debt — But The Monster Became My Greatest Protector

Part 1
My Father Sold Me To A Mafia Boss To Clear His Debt — But The Monster Became My Greatest Protector
Blood stained the pristine altar steps in my nightmares, but reality was far quieter and infinitely more terrifying.
Rain battered the cracked windows of my father’s trucking office, mirroring the sinking reality inside.
I stood in the doorway, a stack of unpaid invoices clutched to my chest, my oversized cardigan pulled tight around my waist.
For years, I had endured the cruel whispers of society regarding my weight, shrinking myself into the background to avoid the spotlight.
My father, Greg Tyler, was a man consumed by his own vices.
The scent of cheap bourbon and stale cigar smoke usually clung to him, but today, the office smelled of something else entirely.
Raw, paralyzing fear.
Seated across from him was Dan Costa.
He didn’t look like the caricatures of mobsters depicted in movies.
He wore a bespoke charcoal suit that contoured perfectly to his broad, heavily muscled frame.
His dark hair was meticulously styled, but his eyes—a striking, chilling pale gray—were entirely devoid of warmth.
Two massive men in tailored coats flanked the door, their hands resting ominously inside their jackets.
“Three point eight million dollars, Greg,” Dan’s voice was a low, melodic rumble, entirely too calm for the tension suffocating the room.
“That is what you owe my organization.
I am not a patient man.”
My father was sweating profusely, his hands trembling as he wiped his brow with a soiled handkerchief.
“Mr. Costa, please, the ponies just didn’t run my way this month.
I can give you twenty percent of my next shipment.”
“Twenty percent of nothing is nothing,” Dan replied, leaning forward slightly.
My father flinched.
“I do not want your excuses.
I want my money, or I want the equivalent in blood.”
I felt the air leave my lungs and took a tentative step backward, hoping to slip away.
A floorboard creaked beneath my worn sneakers.
Dan’s pale eyes snapped to me, the shift in his attention instantaneous and terrifying.
He assessed me in one sweeping glance from my messy auburn bun down to my faded jeans.
I folded my arms over my stomach, my cheeks burning with humiliation under his intense scrutiny.
“And who is this?”
Dan asked, his tone shifting from cold business to quiet curiosity.
“That’s my daughter, Megan,” Greg stammered, his eyes darting frantically between Dan and me.
Suddenly, a sickening gleam of desperation sparked in my father’s eyes.
“She’s a good girl, Mr. Costa.
Hard-working, quiet, never been in trouble.”
Dan tilted his head, his gaze never leaving me.
“Why are you telling me this?”
“I heard the rumors, Mr. Costa,” Greg blurted out, the words tumbling over each other.
“They say you need a wife to solidify your seat at the head of the table.
A respectable, traditional wife.”
My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird.
“Dad, what are you doing?”
I whispered, horror choking my voice.
“Shut up, Megan,” Greg snapped, turning a pleading look back to the mafia boss.
“Take her.
Marry her.
Erase my debt.
She cooks.
She keeps her mouth shut.
She’s not like those loud, flashy mob wives.”
The silence that followed was deafening.
I felt tears prick my eyes as the ultimate betrayal sliced through my chest.
My own father was trading me like a piece of defective machinery to save his own skin.
I waited for Dan to laugh, to mock my full figure, to state the obvious that a powerful billionaire would never want a chubby baker for a wife.
Instead, Dan stood up slowly and approached me, his sheer size eclipsing the light from the window.
I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for the insult.
Instead, a large, calloused hand gently tilted my chin up.
I opened my eyes to find Dan staring down at me, his expression unreadable.
His thumb brushed a stray tear from my cheek.
“The debt is cleared,” Dan murmured, dropping his hand and turning back to my father.
“Pack her things.
My men will collect her tonight.”
“Wait,” I gasped, finding a shred of courage.
“I am not a piece of property.”
Dan’s gaze pinned me in place.
“Your father just sold your life, Megan.
I bought it.
You belong to the Costa family now.”
He didn’t wait for my answer, sweeping out of the office and leaving me trapped in a nightmare.
The wedding took place exactly five days later.
There was no romance, no joyful planning, and certainly no love.
I felt like a lamb being ushered to the slaughterhouse.
The ceremony at the cathedral was a blur of flashing cameras, heavy incense, and rows of dangerous men in dark suits.
Dan stood at the altar looking like a dark god, his face a mask of stoic indifference.
When he slid the massive diamond ring onto my trembling finger, his skin was warm, but his eyes were guarded.
It was at the reception held in an opulent hotel ballroom that the reality of my new life truly set in.
I sat at the head table feeling entirely out of place.
The other mafia wives were dripping in diamonds, sporting size zero figures and sharp, calculating smiles.
When Dan stepped away to speak with an associate, the women descended.
Brenda, a stunning but venomous brunette married to a Costa lieutenant named Brian, leaned against the table swirling her champagne.
“Well, aren’t you a surprise?”
Brenda purred, her eyes raking over my figure with poorly concealed disdain.
“I suppose when you need a desperate, docile broodmare, beggars can’t be choosers.”
A few of the surrounding women snickered.
“Tell me, do they sell wedding dresses at the plus-size department, or did they have to stitch two together?”
My face burned hot with shame, and I looked down at my hands.
I was about to excuse myself to hide in the restroom when the temperature in the room seemed to plummet.
The music didn’t stop, but the silence at our table became absolute.
Dan had returned.
He stood behind my chair, his massive hands resting on my shoulders.
The protective weight of him sent a shockwave through my system.
He looked at Brenda, his gray eyes devoid of any human emotion.
“Brian,” Dan said, his voice quiet, yet it sliced through the ambient noise like a razor.
Brian rushed over, his face instantly pale.
“Yes boss.”
“Your wife,” Dan said, his thumbs gently tracing soothing circles into the silk covering my shoulders, “has a problem with her vision.”
Brenda’s smug smile vanished, replaced by stark terror.
“She seems to be struggling to recognize the new queen of this syndicate.”
“Dan, I was just… we were just making conversation,”
Brenda stammered.
“You will address me as Don Costa,” Dan snarled, the sudden violence in his tone making everyone flinch.
“And you will address my wife as Mrs. Costa.
You will look at the ground when she walks past you.”
Brenda was trembling violently.
“Yes, Don Costa.”
“Apologize to her,” Dan commanded.
“On your knees.”
I gasped, turning my head.
“Dan, no, it’s fine, really.”
“It is not fine, Megan,” he interrupted, his voice softening only a fraction for me.
He looked back at the lieutenant.
“Brian, put your wife on the floor.”
In a horrifying display of absolute power, Brian grabbed his wife’s wrist and forced her to her knees in front of my chair.
“I am so sorry, Mrs. Costa,” Brenda wept softly.
“Forgive me.”
Dan simply ordered his men to escort them out of the building.
I sat completely frozen, my heart slamming against my ribs as I watched the cruelest woman in the room crawl away in tears.
For the first time in my life, I didn’t feel the desperate urge to hide my body.
The crushing weight of my lifelong shame dissolved into the silk of my dress, replaced by a strange, fiery warmth.
I looked up at the terrifying monster I had just married, my breath catching in my throat.
That night, we arrived at his sprawling fortress-like estate, and Dan led me up the grand sweeping staircase.
He stopped in front of a heavy oak door and opened it, revealing a beautifully decorated massive bedroom.
“This is your room,” Dan said quietly.
I blinked, confused.
“Where is your room?”
“Down the hall,” he replied, loosening his silk tie.
He turned to face me, his expression serious.
“I know what your father told you, and I know you think you were sold to a monster to be used as a plaything.”
He stepped closer, his towering frame casting a shadow over me.
“I needed a wife to secure my empire, and you needed to be rescued from a father who would have eventually sold you to someone far worse than me.”
He reached out, his knuckles lightly brushing my cheek, sending a jolt of electricity down my spine.
“I will not force myself on you.
You will lock your door at night, and you will sleep in peace.”
His pale eyes bore into mine, intense and unflinching.
“But make no mistake, you wear my name now.
Outside these walls, you belong to me, and because of that, you are a target.”
He stepped back.
“I will never let anyone hurt you, mock you, or disrespect you.
In this house, you are safe.”
I looked up into the eyes of the most dangerous man in New York, completely bewildered by the respect he was offering me.
Slowly, I nodded.
“Good,” Dan said.
“Lock the door, Megan.”
He turned and walked down the dimly lit hallway, his imposing shadow stretching across the marble floor.
I stood frozen before my bedroom, terrified of what the most dangerous man in New York truly expected from me once the lights went out.
