She Was Stalked Leaving Store, Struggling Dad Who Walked With Her Didn’t Know She Was A CEO Falling

The Shopping Mall Encounter

The sharp click of heels against polished marble echoed through the upscale boutique as Victoria Richards collected her shopping bags. She could feel it again—that unsettling sensation of being watched that had followed her through three stores in the mall.

Glancing over her shoulder, she caught sight of the same man she’d noticed earlier, pretending to browse a rack of ties while his eyes remained fixed on her movements. Victoria’s pulse quickened.

As the CEO of Ascend Technologies, she dealt with aggressive competitors, hostile takeovers, and demanding shareholders. But this was different. This was personal and frightening.

She quickened her pace, exiting the boutique into the busy mall corridor, mentally calculating the distance to her car in the parking garage. The man followed, no longer bothering to disguise his pursuit.

Frantically scanning her surroundings, Victoria spotted a tall, broad-shouldered man walking with a little girl who looked about five years old. Something about his protective stance over his daughter made Victoria veer toward them, instinctively seeking safety.

“Excuse me,” she said, her voice steady despite her racing heart.

“I’m Victoria. I think we met at Charlie’s birthday party last month. Your daughter has grown so much.”

The man looked confused for a moment before his eyes registered the fear in hers. He glanced discreetly over her shoulder at the stalker, who had slowed his pace but remained focused on Victoria.

“Oh, right,” he said smoothly, picking up on her cue.

“Good to see you again. We were just heading to the parking garage. Would you like to walk with us?”

“I would love that. Thank you.”

“I’m Finn by the way,” he said quietly as they began walking.

“Finn Collins. And this is my daughter, Emma.”

Emma looked up at Victoria with curious brown eyes.

“I don’t remember you from any birthday party.”

Victoria’s tension broke slightly as she smiled.

“That’s because we haven’t actually met before. I’m sorry for the confusion, but there’s a man following me and I got scared.”

Finn’s jaw tightened as he subtly positioned himself between Victoria and the direction of the stalker.

“Emma, honey, let’s play the secret agent game. We need to protect Victoria and get her safely to her car.”

Emma’s eyes widened with excitement.

“I’m Agent E. Dad’s Agent F. You can be Agent V.”

“Perfect,” Victoria said, genuine relief washing over her.

“I’m parked on level three.”

“So are we,” Finn replied, gently guiding both females toward the elevator.

“Stay close.”

As they walked, Victoria noticed Finn’s worn jeans and the slightly frayed cuffs of his otherwise clean button-down shirt. Emma’s sneakers looked new, but Finn’s were visibly worn.

The contrast between his appearance and the designer bags Victoria carried wasn’t lost on her. They reached the elevator, and Finn strategically positioned them in the corner, standing protectively in front.

He kept an eye on the stalker, who had followed them to the elevator bank but stopped short of joining them.

“Thank you for this,” Victoria whispered.

“I didn’t know what to do.”

“No problem,” Finn replied, his voice low.

“No one should feel unsafe just going shopping.”

The elevator doors opened on level three, and Finn scanned the area before leading them out.

“Which way is your car? Section D?”

Victoria replied, “We’re in E.”

“We’ll walk you there first.”

As they made their way through the garage, Emma’s small hand slipped into Victoria’s. The gesture was so natural and trusting that Victoria felt a lump form in her throat.

It had been years since anyone had reached for her hand so innocently.

“You’re pretty,” Emma declared.

“Are you a princess?”

Victoria laughed, the sound echoing in the concrete structure.

“No, just a regular person who got into a scary situation.”

“Dad says sometimes even brave people need help,” Emma stated with the certainty only children possess.

“Your dad is very wise,” Victoria replied, glancing at Finn, who was vigilantly checking behind them and was very kind.

They reached her car, a sleek midnight blue Tesla, and Victoria reluctantly released Emma’s hand to find her keys.

“This is you?” Finn asked, surprise briefly crossing his features.

“Yes,” Victoria confirmed, not elaborating on how a woman her age afforded such a vehicle.

“Listen, I can’t thank you both enough. You really saved me back there.”

Finn shook his head.

“Anyone would have done the same.”

“No, they wouldn’t have,” Victoria said firmly.

“Most people would have looked away.”

“You didn’t.”

She hesitated, then asked, “Would you let me buy you both dinner as a thank you?”

Emma bounced excitedly.

“Can we, Dad? Please?”

Finn looked torn. Victoria could read his pride battling with his desire to please his daughter and perhaps his own interest in extending their time together.

“I promise it’s just gratitude,” Victoria assured him.

“No strings attached. There’s a great family restaurant just outside the mall.”

“Okay,” Finn finally agreed.

“But let me follow you in my car. I’d feel better knowing you’re not alone until we’re sure that guy is gone.”

Victoria nodded, relief evident in her smile.

“That sounds perfect.”
