She Was Stalked Leaving Store, Struggling Dad Who Walked With Her Didn’t Know She Was A CEO Falling

A Future Built Together

The rest of the dinner passed in awkward conversation, and their goodbye was stiff and formal compared to their usual warmth. For 3 days, Victoria heard nothing from Finn.

She threw herself into work, but her heart wasn’t in it. She found herself checking her phone constantly, hoping for a message that didn’t come.

On the fourth day, Victoria was in a board meeting when her assistant slipped her a note. “Finn Collins in reception says it’s important.”

Victoria excused herself immediately, practically running to the elevator. When the doors opened on the ground floor, she saw Finn standing awkwardly in the imposing lobby.

He looked out of place among the sleek modern furnishings and well-dressed executives.

“Finn,” she said, approaching him with caution.

“This is a surprise.”

He turned, his expression unreadable.

“I needed to see you—to talk to you in person.”

Victoria nodded toward a private seating area.

“Let’s sit.”

Once they were seated, Finn took a deep breath.

“I’ve been doing a lot of thinking these past few days about us—about what you told me.”

Victoria waited, her heart pounding.

“At first I was hurt that you hadn’t trusted me with the truth,” Finn continued.

“Then I was intimidated. I mean, you run a billion dollar company, Victoria. You live in a world I can barely imagine.”

“That’s not all of who I am,” Victoria interrupted softly.

“I know that now,” Finn said.

“I realized something important. The woman I’ve been falling for—the one who goes down slides with my daughter and laughs at my terrible jokes—that’s the real you.”

“The CEO part is what you do, not who you are.”

Hope bloomed in Victoria’s chest.

“That’s exactly right.”

“Emma misses you,” Finn said, a small smile finally appearing.

“She asked why Agent V hasn’t been on any missions lately.”

“I miss her too,” Victoria admitted.

“And her dad.”

“I can’t promise I won’t sometimes feel weird about the money thing,” Finn said honestly.

“I was raised to believe a man provides for his family, and I can’t provide anything close to what you already have.”

Victoria reached for his hand.

“You provide things money can’t buy, Finn. Warmth, laughter, perspective, love.”

She hesitated on the last word, unsure if they were ready for it. But Finn’s eyes softened as he squeezed her hand.

“Is that what this is? Love?”

Victoria took a deep breath.

“For me, yes. I love you, Finn Collins. And I love Emma too.”

Finn’s smile grew wider.

“Well, that’s convenient, because we both love you back.”

He leaned forward and kissed her right there in the lobby of Ascend Technologies, not caring who might see. When they parted, Victoria laughed softly.

“You know this is going to be complicated, right? My life, my schedule.”

“Life is always complicated,” Finn replied with a shrug.

“But some complications are worth it.”

6 months later, Victoria sat on a blanket in the park, watching as Finn chased Emma around the playground. Her laptop was open beside her, but she’d long since stopped working.

She preferred to enjoy the simple pleasure of watching the two people who had become her family. Emma spotted her watching and ran over, collapsing dramatically on the blanket.

“Victoria! Dad says we can get ice cream if you’re done with your important CEO stuff.”

Victoria laughed, closing her laptop.

“I’m definitely done. Ice cream sounds perfect.”

Finn joined them, sitting down beside Victoria and slipping an arm around her waist.

“How’s the quarterly report coming?”

“It can wait,” Victoria replied, leaning into his embrace.

“This is more important.”

In the months since their reconciliation, they’d found a balance that worked for them. Victoria had adjusted her schedule to make time for family dinners and weekend outings.

Finn had accepted that sometimes Victoria needed to work unusual hours or travel for business. They were learning to blend their worlds one day at a time.

The ring in Finn’s pocket, a simple but elegant diamond that he’d insisted on buying himself, would soon make that blending official. He planned to propose that evening after Emma was asleep.

In the comfort of the home they now shared, Victoria didn’t know about the ring yet, but she had her own surprise plans. She was creating a charitable foundation to help single parents in construction trades.

She’d been working on it secretly, wanting to create something meaningful that honored Finn’s journey and helped others like him.

“What are you thinking about?” Finn asked, noticing her thoughtful expression.

Victoria smiled, leaning over to kiss him softly.

“Just how lucky I am that I got stalked at a shopping mall.”

Finn laughed, the sound warm and rich.

“That might be the strangest thing anyone’s ever said to me, but I know exactly what you mean.”

He glanced at Emma, who was now intently studying a ladybug crawling across the blanket.

“Ready for that ice cream, Princess?”

Emma jumped up eagerly.

“Yes! Can I get two scoops?”

“One!” Finn and Victoria said in unison, then laughed at their synchronized parenting.

As they packed up their things and headed toward the ice cream shop, Victoria reflected on how dramatically her life had changed. Her career was still important, but it no longer defined her completely.

She had found room in her heart and her schedule for love, for family, and for the messy, beautiful complications of real life.

As Finn reached for her hand, his eyes full of love and promise, Victoria knew with absolute certainty that she wouldn’t trade this life for all the corner offices in the world.
