She Caters His Corporate Retreat, Unaware The Billionaire Host Is Planning More Than Business
The Big Break and the Secret Plan
The glass shattered on the hardwood floor, scattering across the polished surface like diamonds in the late afternoon sun. Sophia Ellis didn’t even flinch. She was too busy staring at the email that had just arrived in her inbox.
Her breath caught somewhere between her lungs and her throat.
“Sophie, are you okay?” Maya, her assistant, rushed over with a broom and dustpan. Concern was etched across her face.
“We got it,” Sophia whispered, still staring at her phone. “Elite Tastes just landed the Serrano Group’s corporate retreat.”
Maya’s eyes widened. “The Serrano Group? As in the shipping empire?”
Sophia nodded, a smile slowly spreading across her face. “Three days at Lakeside Resort. Fifty executives. This is the biggest contract we’ve ever landed.”
At thirty-two, Sophia had built Elite Tastes from a small catering side hustle into one of New York’s most sought-after boutique catering companies. Her specialty was creating immersive culinary experiences. She was not just serving food, but telling stories through taste.
It had taken five years of sixteen-hour days, maxed-out credit cards, and enough coffee to fill the Hudson River. But she was finally making a name for herself.
“How did we even get on their radar?” Maya asked, sweeping up the remains of what had been a water glass.
“I have no idea,” Sophia admitted. “But I’m not questioning it. This could change everything for us.”
What Sophia didn’t know was that fifteen floors above the bustling streets of Manhattan, in a penthouse office with floor-to-ceiling windows, Parker Serrano was smiling at his computer screen.
“She accepted,” he said, swiveling in his chair to face his CFO, Daniel.
“You really went through all this trouble just to meet a caterer?” Daniel asked, raising an eyebrow.
Parker ran a hand through his dark hair, his eyes returning to the confirmation email. “Not just any caterer. The woman who created that seven-course dinner at the Charity Foundation Gala last month.”
“The one that made everyone forget they were supposed to be networking.”
Daniel shook his head. “You do realize you’re worth four billion dollars, right? You could just call and ask her out.”
“And have her see me as just another rich guy throwing money around?”
Parker leaned back in his chair. At thirty-six, he’d spent the last decade expanding his family’s shipping business into logistics, e-commerce, and sustainable transportation. The financial press called him ruthlessly efficient.
His few close friends knew he was just deeply private, especially when it came to his personal life.
“No. I want her to see me for who I am, not what I own.”
“So you’re spending a small fortune on a corporate retreat none of us asked for just so you can eat her food again?”
Parker’s smile was unapologetic. “Not just eat her food. I’ve done my research. She personally oversees every major event. For three days, I’ll have the chance to get to know Sophia Ellis without the billionaire label getting in the way.”
Daniel sighed dramatically. “This is either the most romantic or the most convoluted plan I’ve ever heard.”
“It’s both,” Parker replied, turning back to his computer. “That’s what makes it perfect.”
