The next morning she woke up expecting a text, a call, or some kind of message begging her to reconsider. Nothing.

Days passed and still nothing. She finally caved and called him.

There was no answer. She tried again, but it went straight to voicemail.

At first she was pissed. “Oh, so he’s going to ignore me, seriously?” she vented to her friends.

She waited for someone to agree with her or to say he was being dramatic. But all she got was silence and a few uncomfortable shrugs.

A week later she saw a lawyer. She was still bluffing, still waiting for Mike to show up and fight for her.

But when she filed the papers and served him, he signed them immediately. No argument, no requests, no demands—just a signature.

Now this is the part where it hit her. She expected tears, groveling, or maybe even anger.

But all she got was a man who was done. And that’s when she realized she’d been poking at a man who, deep down, had already let her go a long time ago.

She tried to reach out again. She told him maybe they should talk.

“We don’t have to do this.”

And you know what Mike said? “We already did.”
