A Woman Is Hired As A Housekeeper, Never Expecting Her Millionaire Boss To Fall In Love With Her

Arrival at the Blackwood Estate

Mia clutched the worn strap of her purse, her heart hammering against her ribs as the iron gates of the Blackwood estate loomed before her. She had never seen a house this massive outside of movies.

Tall glass windows reflected the early morning sun. The sprawling grounds were meticulously landscaped, and a fountain in the center of a circular driveway looked like it had been plucked straight from a European palace. What was she doing here?

“You must be Mia,” a stern-faced woman in a crisp uniform greeted her at the entrance.

“I’m Mrs. Callaway, the head housekeeper. Follow me.”

Mia nodded quickly, stepping inside. The foyer was more luxurious than anything she had ever seen. Marble floors gleamed under an enormous crystal chandelier, and elegant paintings lined the walls. She tried not to gawk as she hurried behind Mrs. Callaway.

“The rules here are simple,” Mrs. Callaway continued briskly.

“You clean, you stay out of Mr. Dalton’s way, and you do not ask questions. Understood?”

Mia swallowed hard. Mr. Dalton Blackwood, the elusive millionaire who owned this estate, was known for his ruthlessness in business. She had heard his name before; everyone had.

He was the kind of man who made headlines for groundbreaking deals and scandals alike.

“I understand,” Mia said, determined to prove herself.

This job was a lifeline after struggling to make ends meet. Working at Blackwood Estate was her last hope to keep a roof over her head. Mrs. Callaway led her through the labyrinth of hallways, giving her a quick rundown of her tasks.

Everything was pristine, yet the mansion felt strangely empty. There was no laughter and no warmth, just silence and wealth.

“You’ll be responsible for the West Wing,” Mrs. Callaway instructed.

“Mr. Blackwood prefers his privacy, so if you see him, do your work and leave.”

Mia nodded again, gripping her cleaning supplies as she entered a massive study. She took a deep breath and got to work dusting the shelves lined with leather-bound books and polishing the dark oak furniture.

She had just reached for a glass paperweight when a deep voice cut through the silence.

“You’re new.”

Mia gasped, spinning around so fast she nearly knocked over a vase. Standing in the doorway was a man who could only be Dalton Blackwood.

He was tall, broad-shouldered, and devastatingly handsome in a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He exuded power. His dark eyes locked onto hers, unreadable.

“I am Mia,” she stammered.

“The new housekeeper.”

Dalton’s gaze lingered on her, assessing.

“I don’t remember approving a new hire.”

Before she could answer, Mrs. Callaway appeared beside him.

“I handled it, sir. She’s here to assist with the upkeep.”

Dalton didn’t respond right away. Instead, he stepped forward, his presence overwhelming.

“Don’t touch my desk,” he said flatly.

“Everything else is fine.”

Mia nodded quickly, feeling his intense stare burn into her as he walked past her and sat at his desk. Dismissed for the rest of the day, she worked diligently, careful to avoid any further run-ins with her intimidating employer.
