The Discovery of a Hidden Truth

After 15 years, I discovered I am not my daughter’s biological father. Hello, Reddit Eyes Plus here.

I never expected something as simple as a family tree project to crack my life wide open. It started when my 15-year-old daughter came to me bright-eyed, excited about tracing her roots for an online class.

She wanted to explore her Native American Heritage. My dad was half Native American, and though he passed years ago, she’d always been fascinated by that side of our family.

We didn’t mention it to her mother. It was just our little quest.

We ordered the ancestry tests and waited, talking about my dad and my childhood stories passed down the family line. Finally, the results came back, but they didn’t say what I expected.

No Native American Heritage at all. I was confused, certain it had to be some kind of mistake.

First thought: maybe my dad wasn’t who I thought he was. To be sure, I took the test myself.

When my results came back, everything I knew came crashing down. It hit me that my daughter was not my biological child.
