After my sister inherited $880K, ordered me to clean! yelled at me “Work like a servant or get out!”

A Father’s Legacy and The Fake Will

Holding back tears, Jenna resolved to cherish the time left with her father. She made the difficult decision to quit her job and devote herself fully to caring for him. Her partner Whan understood her decision completely.

“Jenna, I understand how you feel,” Whan said kindly. “Take the time you need. Your place is always open here.”

“Thank you, Whan,” Jenna said, filled with gratitude. “That really helps.”

However, Megan and Isabella’s reactions were less supportive.

“Jenna, are you crazy?” Isabella said in dismay, shocked by her sister’s decision to leave her career.

“To throw away your career like that,” Megan agreed. “That’s right, Jenna. What are you planning to do after Dad passes? How will you live?”

Jenna responded, expressing her sadness and anger. “Mom, Dad’s well-being is what’s important right now. Don’t worry about me.”

Though she had quit her job, Jenna had Whan’s support and could afford to pause her career. Yet she hadn’t found the right moment to discuss this with her family.

One day while Jenna was tending to Max in the hospital room, he quietly opened his eyes.

“Jenna,” Max called out in a weak voice.

“Dad, is something wrong?” Jenna asked gently.

Max smiled faintly. “No, just there’s something I want to tell you.”

Jenna leaned in. “What is it, Dad?”

“About your fiancé, I know about him,” Max said slowly.

Jenna stared at her father in surprise. “What? How?”

Max gently held his daughter’s hand. “Jenna, I like to think I know you well. Seeing you happy I suspected there must be someone.” “Was his name Whan? Can you tell me about him?”

Mixed with surprise and relief, Jenna began to talk to her father about Whan. She spoke about their meeting, how they understood each other, and their dreams for the future. The more she spoke, the brighter her expression became.

Max listened intently, pleased. “I’m happy to see you so happy,” he said. “But why didn’t you tell Mom and Isabella?”

After a brief silence, Jenna quietly answered. “I was afraid of how they would react. I thought they might make an issue of Whan’s family background or wealth.”

Max sighed deeply. “I see. Certainly, those two can be a bit biased in their thinking.” “But Jenna, your happiness is what’s most important. They’ll come to understand that eventually.”

“Thank you, Dad, but I still need a little more time,” Jenna said, encouraged by her father’s words.

Max nodded. “Understood. I trust your judgment.” He then seemed to remember something else. “That’s right, Jenna, there’s something I need to tell you.”

“What is it, Dad?” Jenna leaned in.

“I’ve paid for your wedding and the down payment for your new apartment,” Max said, his voice tinged with pride.

“But Dad,” Jenna was shocked.

Seeing his daughter’s reaction, Max smiled, surprised. “Actually, I’ve been saving a little ever since you became a lawyer for your future.”

Jenna was at a loss for words, feeling a warmth in her chest from her father’s deep affection.

Max continued. “I want you to be happy with Whan. You can be happy, I can see that.”

“Dad, thank you so much,” Jenna replied, holding back tears as she gripped her father’s hand. “I promise I will be happy.”

Max smiled faintly. “I’m glad to hear that. But Jenna, there’s one more thing I’d like to ask.”

“Anything, Dad,” Jenna replied earnestly.

Max hesitated for a moment before speaking quietly. “It’s about your mother and Isabella. Could you forgive them?”

Jenna stared at her father in surprise.

Max continued. “They have their circumstances, especially your mother,” he explained carefully. “Actually, she had a tough time when she was young.”

“Your mother’s family was very strict,” he shared. “She was never allowed to pursue her own dreams and was always forced to meet the expectations of those around her.” “And unknowingly she directed that suffering towards you and your sister.”

For the first time, Jenna learned about her mother’s past and was struck by complex emotions. “I never knew that,” she murmured.

Max continued. “Isabella has also been strongly influenced by your mother. They don’t understand the pain.”

His voice trailed off as he recalled the past, his eyes narrowing as he shared these revelations. Jenna listened quietly, the new knowledge reshaping her understanding of her family dynamics.

As Jenna learned about the complex histories and struggles of her family, it gave her a fresh perspective on their behaviors and interactions.

Her father Max held her hand gently, imparting a piece of heartfelt advice. “I’m not asking you to understand them completely,” he said softly. “But if there’s a chance for reconciliation, I hope you’ll cherish it. Family is irreplaceable after all.”

Jenna nodded slowly, absorbing his words. “I understand, Dad. I can’t promise anything, but I’ll try.”

Max seemed relieved by her response. “That’s enough for me, Jenna. I believe in you.”

From then on, Jenna cherished every moment she had with her father. She brought Whan to the hospital and together the three of them talked about their future plans.

Max’s eyes lit up as he spoke about the grandchildren he hoped to meet someday. He expressed his wishes for Jenna and Whan to build a happy home together.

Despite this, Max’s condition continued to decline, and Jenna stayed devotedly by his side, savoring their last moments together.

On a quiet night as Jenna held her father’s hand in the dim light of the hospital room, Max suddenly opened his eyes.

“Jenna,” his voice was hoarse. “I’m proud of you.”

Those were his last words. Max Miller passed away peacefully, watched over by his loving daughter.

Jenna wept bitterly, her grief profound and overwhelming. Whan rushed to her side, offering silent support and warmth during this heart-rending time.

Max’s funeral was a dignified affair, true to his character. Many of his students and colleagues attended, sharing memories of his passion for academia and his warm personality.

Jenna, as the chief mourner, spoke about her father’s love for his academics and his family. She declared that his teachings would continue to live on in their hearts.

However, Megan and Isabella appeared restless during the funeral. They frequently checked their phones and engaged in casual conversation with other attendees. Jenna was pained by their behavior but remembered her father’s words about forgiveness. She managed to suppress her anger.

After the funeral, as the family gathered privately, Megan and Isabella made a shocking announcement.

“Jenna, about Dad’s inheritance,” Megan stated coldly. “Isabella and I will inherit everything.”

Stunned, Jenna responded, “What did you say?”

Isabella added smugly, pulling out a document. “There’s a will too, look,” she said.

She thrust it in front of Jenna. Jenna took the will with trembling hands. It clearly stated that all the inheritance was to be left to Megan and Isabella.

However, Jenna noticed that the signature differed significantly from her father’s usual handwriting.

“This isn’t Dad’s handwriting,” Jenna began carefully.

Megan’s complexion changed. “What are you talking about? Of course, it’s Dad’s signature.”

Isabella quickly made excuses. “Right after Dad was hospitalized, Mom and I went to his room and had him write it,” she claimed. “He agreed right away not to leave anything to you.”

Holding back her anger, Jenna replied, “Dad would never do such a thing. That’s impossible.”

Megan raised her voice. “Shut up! You can’t leech off us.”

Isabella chimed in. “That’s right. You’ve been acting all high and mighty taking care of Dad.” “But in the end, he liked us better than his boring, serious daughter.”

Deeply hurt yet striving to remain composed, Jenna remembered her last conversation with her father and took a deep breath.

“Mom, Isabella,” she said quietly yet firmly. “If this is truly Dad’s will, I will respect it.” “But I will have a lawyer verify if this is his signature.”

Megan’s face contorted. “There’s no need for that,” she insisted. “It’s already decided.”

Isabella scoffed. “Yeah, it’s too late for you to start scrambling for scraps now.”

Jenna stood up quietly. “I understand. I can no longer live with you all. I’m leaving.”

Megan said triumphantly, “That’s right, leave and don’t ever show your face again.”

As Jenna silently began to pack her things, the last shred of affection she held for her family disappeared. Yet she remembered her father’s advice on reconciliation.

Before leaving, she turned and said, “This is how you treat Dad D’s memory. I can never forgive this.”

The heavy door closed behind her with a final thud, marking the end of her old life and the beginning of a new chapter. She would carry the memories of her father and strive for the happiness he had wished for her.

Jenna paused, then added softly, “I hope one day we can understand each other.”

Megan and Isabella briefly showed a flicker of regret, but their expressions quickly hardened.

“Leave and never come back,” Megan said finally.
