Billionaire Father Shocked When Waitress Hugs His Daughter After She Asked for Mom
A Search for Safety and Shared Solace
A week later, Ethan got a call from his driver; Kloe had run off from her music class. Panic shot through him.
For two hours, he searched every street, every park, until finally his phone buzzed with a call from an unknown number.
“Mr. Cole,” came a soft, nervous voice, “this is Grace, the waitress from Maple Diner; your daughter’s here, she’s safe.”
Ethan raced there without a second thought. When he arrived, he saw Khloe sitting on a stool at the counter, happily sipping hot chocolate.
Grace stood beside her, one hand resting protectively on the girl’s shoulder. “Chloe,” Ethan exclaimed, rushing to her, “you scared me.”
She looked up innocently. “Daddy, I just wanted to see Miss Grace again; I wanted to ask her something.”
Ethan sighed, kneeling. “Sweetheart, you can’t just run off like that.”
Grace apologized softly, “I’m so sorry Mr. Cole, she came here alone, I didn’t know what to do but call you.” Ethan nodded, still shaken.
“Thank you, really.” Then Khloe looked up at Grace and asked in her small trembling voice, “Miss Gracea, can you be my mommy?”
The room went silent. Grace froze. Ethan’s heart stopped.
Tears filled Khloe’s eyes. “I know mommy’s in heaven,” she whispered, “but you’re nice like her; I just want someone to hug me like she did.”
Grace dropped to her knees and hugged the little girl tightly. “Oh sweetheart,” she whispered, her voice breaking, “if only love was that simple.”
Ethan stood there speechless. For years he’d built walls around his heart, but in that moment, as he watched Grace hold his daughter, those walls began to crumble.
When Grace finally looked up, her eyes were wet. “I lost my baby two years ago,” she said quietly, “a car accident.”
“I, I haven’t been the same since, but your daughter… she made me remember what it felt like to smile again.” Ethan felt his throat close.
He wanted to say something comforting, but his voice shook. “I didn’t know, I’m sorry.”
Grace gave a faint smile. “Don’t be; sometimes people are brought together for reasons we don’t understand.”
