Billionaire Gets Lost On A Road Trip, Unexpectedly Falling In Love With The Woman Who Directs Him

The Breakdown in Nowhere

Alexander Sutton gripped the steering wheel of his sleek black Aston Martin. Frustration rolled off him in waves as he stared at the empty stretch of road ahead. This was not how today was supposed to go. The billionaire CEO of Sutton Enterprises did not get lost.

And yet, here he was, completely, hopelessly lost in the middle of nowhere. The GPS had given out miles ago. His phone had no signal. The last town he passed looked like it hadn’t changed since the 1950s.

He ran a hand through his dark hair, exhaling sharply. He had been on his way to an exclusive investor retreat. It was a trip meant to be a rare moment of solitude before he faced a room full of sharks.

But now all he had was an empty tank and a growing headache. As if on cue, the car sputtered. The engine coughed once, twice, then died.

“You have got to be kidding me,” Alexander muttered, slamming his palm against the wheel.

He stepped out of the car. The heat of the afternoon sun pressed against his tailored dress shirt. He was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by rolling hills, dense trees, and a long, deserted road.

Then, in the distance, he saw something. An old pickup truck was parked outside what looked like a tiny roadside cafe. It was the only sign of civilization around, so he had no choice.

Alexander strode toward it, pushing open the cafe door. The scent of fresh coffee and something sweet filled the air. He barely had time to take it in before a woman stepped out from behind the counter.

She was breathtaking. Messy dark curls framed her face. Her brown eyes were sharp and observant as she took him in. She wore a simple sundress, her tan skin glowing in the sunlight streaming through the windows.

There was something about her—something real, something untouched by the world he knew.

“Can I help you?” she asked, arching a brow.

Alexander straightened.

“I need directions.”

Her lips twitched, amusement flickering across her face.

“You look like a man who’s never asked for directions in his life.”

He narrowed his eyes.

“And you look like someone who enjoys making assumptions.”

She shrugged, unfazed.

“Where are you trying to go?”

“Lakeview Manor.”

She let out a low whistle.

“You’re way off. That’s at least an hour from here.”

“An hour?”

He clenched his jaw. He didn’t have an hour to waste.

“I’ll call a car.”

He started reaching for his phone, but she shook her head.

“Good luck with that. No reception out here.”

His patience thinned.

“Then I need gas. Is there a station nearby?”

“Nope,” she said, popping the “p.” “But I can give you a ride to the next town. They’ve got a mechanic and a gas station.”

Alexander hesitated. He wasn’t used to relying on strangers, but he had no other option.

“Fine,” he said, running a hand along his jaw. “Let’s go.”

She grinned, wiping her hands on her apron before untying it.

“Name’s Noel Thompson, by the way.”

“Alexander Sutton.”

Her eyes flickered with recognition.

“Sutton? As in Sutton Enterprises?”

He inclined his head slightly. She didn’t seem overly impressed, which was unexpected.

“Huh,” she said, grabbing her keys. “Well, come on, Mr. Billionaire. Let’s get you back on track.”
