Billionaire Meets a Woman Who’s Not Impressed by His Wealth—That’s Exactly Why He Falls for Her

The Unimpressed Stranger

Graham Sinclair had been surrounded by wealth his entire life but he’d never met a woman who looked at him the way Juliet Carter did like he was just another man in her way. The encounter was entirely accidental.

He had stormed into the old bookstore on Fifth Avenue to escape the chaos of a Paparazzi Ambush outside. The moment he stepped inside the scent of aged paper and vanilla filled his senses and the noise of the city dulled behind him.

It was a world away from the high stakes business meetings and extravagant Galas that usually filled his schedule. Juliet stood behind the counter her dark hair falling Loosely around her shoulders her nose buried in A Worn Out novel.

She barely glanced up when he walked in which was already unusual for him. Women always noticed him.

“Can I help you?” she asked her tone indifferent.

Gray arched a brow brushing off his tailored suit as if shaking off the outside world.

“Just looking,” he said.

“Right,” she said returning to her book as if he were nothing more than a passing shadow.

That was new. People either worshiped his wealth or feared it no one ever dismissed him entirely. Intrigued he wandered through the shelves feigning interest in the books while stealing glances at her.

She was beautiful but it wasn’t just that there was an e about her a confidence in the way she took up space without needing validation. After a few moments he plucked a book from the shelf and walked up to the counter.

“Do you have anything on corporate Acquisitions?” he asked.

She finally looked at him properly her deep brown eyes flickering up to meet his.

“You’re in the wrong place for that try the soulless Mega bookstores down the street,” she said.

He let out a low chuckle caught off guard by her sharpness.

“You don’t approve of big business?”

“I don’t approve of people who measure everything in dollar signs,” she said ringing up his book without asking if he actually wanted it.

“Good thing I don’t,” he replied smoothly.

Juliet scoffed clearly unconvinced. She slid the book across the counter.

“That’ll be $15,” she said.

He reached into his wallet out of habit pulling out a sleek black credit card. She didn’t even glance at it.

“We only take cash,” she said flatly.

For the first time in years Graham found himself completely unprepared.

“You don’t take cards?”

“Nope,” she said.

He blinked. No one ever told him no. He hesitated then dug into his pocket coming up empty.

“I don’t have cash on me,” he said.

“Then I guess you’re not getting the book,” she said pushing it aside without a second thought.

Gram studied her waiting for her to recognize him to realize who he was but there was nothing. There was no flicker of recognition no attempt to cater to him.

He wasn’t Graham Sinclair billionaire CEO he was just another man with no cash in a cash only store. A slow grin spread across his face.

“You’re serious?”

“Very,” she said.

He let out a low laugh shaking his head.

“I’ll be back,” he said.

Juliet gave him a half-hearted wave before picking up her book again.

“Sure,” she said.

Graham walked out into the cold evening air a strange thrill running through him. She had no idea who he was and for the first time in years that felt like an advantage.
