CEO Accidentally Sent the Single Dad Her Christmas Wish — He Whispered: “Tell Me Your Real Wish.”

A Conversation Between Strangers

Mark’s phone buzzed. He frowned, confused, and opened the message.

He read it twice. It didn’t look like spam, it didn’t ask for money, and it sounded human.

Lily looked up at him. “Daddy, is everything okay?”

Mark hesitated. Then, without overthinking it, he typed back, “I think you sent this to the wrong person but your life matters”.

There was a pause. Then another message appeared: “I’m sorry. That message wasn’t meant for you but thank you. That was kind”.

Mark smiled faintly. “You’re welcome. Merry Christmas”.

Eleanor stared at the reply, something tightening in her chest. She didn’t know why, but she typed again.

“Can I ask you something? What would you wish for if you could wish for anything?”

Mark looked at Lily, who was watching a toy store window, her reflection glowing with Christmas lights. He started to type, then erased it, and typed again.

Finally, he wrote: “I’d wish for my daughter to never feel how hard life has been for me.” Eleanor felt tears sting her eyes.

She wrote back, “Tell me your real wish.” Mark swallowed.

He hadn’t said this out loud to anyone. “I wish I could give her a Christmas she won’t forget. I’ve been working two jobs. I’m doing my best but this year it’s hard”.

There was silence for a long moment. Then Eleanor replied, “Where are you right now?”

Mark hesitated, unsure, but something about her tone felt safe. He told her the mall.

“Stay there,” she said. “Please”.
