CEO Discovers the Janitor Who Secretly Taught Her Daughter Advanced Math

The Janitor’s Secret

But Evelyn had no idea; her work consumed her.

She noticed her daughter’s growing confidence but never had time to ask where it came from. Until one day, she was called to school.

“Mrs. Carter,” the principal said, barely able to contain excitement. “Laya just won the state-level math championship.”

“She solved a university-grade problem that even our math staff couldn’t handle.”

Evelyn was overwhelmed with pride. “That’s amazing! I’ll double her tutoring sessions.”

The principal blinked. “Tutoring sessions? As far as we know, she doesn’t have any. She told us someone at school helped her.”

“Mr. Daniel?” Evelyn frowned. “Mr. Daniel? We don’t have a math teacher by that name.”

The principal smiled awkwardly. “He’s our janitor.”

Evelyn froze. She thought it was a joke. A janitor teaching advanced math? Impossible.

That evening, Evelyn drove to the school, confusion and disbelief swirling inside her.

She found Daniel mopping near the hallway. “Excuse me,” she said, her tone formal. “You’re Daniel?”

He nodded politely. “Yes, ma’am.”

“My daughter says you’ve been teaching her math.”

Daniel hesitated just a little. “Ma’am, she’s an extraordinary child, curious and quick to learn. I only helped her see what she already knew.”

Evelyn folded her arms. “You’re a janitor. How could you possibly teach advanced mathematics?”

He looked down, a soft smile on his lips. “I used to be a mathematics professor once, back in another life.”

Evelyn’s expression changed. “What do you mean?”

Daniel sighed, leaning slightly on his mop. “I taught at a university for 15 years. Then my wife got sick—cancer.”

“The medical bills drained everything. When she passed, I couldn’t go back to teaching.”

“I moved here, took the first job I could find. The uniform changed, but the love for numbers never left.”
