CEO Joined His Buddy’s Game Night, Never Expected the Woman Beside Him Would Capture His Heart

The Ultimate Partnership

That day marked a turning point. While they still attended Tyler’s game nights, they also began seeing each other outside the group.

Jackson took her sailing again. Jasmine introduced him to her favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants. They attended a medical charity gala together, making their first public appearance as a couple.

The tabloids noticed immediately. “Pharmaceutical Prince Finds His Princess in Doctor,” ran one headline, accompanied by a photo of them laughing together at the gala.

Jackson waited for Jasmine to be bothered by the attention, but she shrugged it off.

“Occupational hazard of dating you, I guess,” she said when he apologized. “As long as they don’t start camping outside my apartment, I can handle a few silly headlines”.

Three months into their relationship, they faced their first real challenge. Jasmine was offered a fellowship at a prestigious children’s hospital in Boston.

It was a career-defining opportunity that would last two years.

“I have to take it,” she told him one evening as they sat in his penthouse overlooking the city. “It’s everything I’ve worked toward”.

“I know,” he said, trying to mask his dismay at the thought of her leaving. “You should absolutely take it. But—”

“But?” she prompted, sensing his reservation.

“But I’ll miss you.”

He took her hand.

“These past months have been the happiest I can remember.”

“For me, too,” she admitted. “Which makes this so hard”.

They sat in silence for several minutes, both contemplating what this meant for their relationship.

“We could try long distance,” she suggested. “It’s only a one-hour flight. With your schedule and mine—”

He left the thought unfinished.

“Are you saying this is it? We’re over before we really begin?”

There was a hint of hurt in her voice.

“No,” Jackson said firmly. “That’s not what I’m saying at all.”

He squeezed her hand.

“I’m saying we need to figure this out together”.

Over the next few weeks, they discussed various solutions. Jackson could open a Boston office and split his time. Jasmine could potentially commute back some weekends.

They researched flights, apartments, and schedules.

“This is crazy,” she said one night as they lay in bed, surrounded by calendars and flight timetables.

“Normal couples don’t go to these lengths.”

“We’re not a normal couple,” Jackson pointed out. “And I think that’s worth something”.

The night before Jasmine was scheduled to fly to Boston to look at apartments, Jackson took her to dinner at the restaurant where they’d had their second date.

After the meal, he seemed unusually quiet.

“Everything okay?” she asked as they walked along the waterfront afterward.

“I’ve been thinking about what you said about normal couples,” he began. “You’re right. This is a lot of effort for a relationship that’s still relatively new”.

Jasmine’s heart sank.

“So you’ve changed your mind? You don’t think we should try?”

“No,” he said, stopping to face her. “I’m thinking maybe we should try something completely different”.

He reached into his pocket and withdrew a small box. Jasmine’s eyes widened.

“Jackson, just hear me out,” he said quickly. “I know it’s fast. I know we have obstacles, but these past months have shown me what’s actually important in life”.

“For years I built a company, accumulated success, and told myself it was enough. Then I met you, and everything shifted”.

He opened the box, revealing a stunning emerald ring surrounded by diamonds.

“I’m not asking you to choose between your career and me. I would never do that. I’m asking if you’d consider building a life with me.”

“One where we both pursue our passions, but do it together. I can open that Boston office. You can do your fellowship. We can figure out the logistics as we go”.

“Are you actually proposing?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

“I am.”

He took a deep breath.

“Jasmine Powell, I love you. Will you marry me?”

She stared at the ring, then back at his face, tears welling in her eyes.

“This is insane. We’ve only known each other for months”.

“I know,” he acknowledged. “But I also know with absolute certainty that what we have is real. Worth fighting for. Worth rearranging lives for”.

“My fellowship?”

“You’ll take it. I’ll support you every step of the way”.

She searched his face, finding nothing but sincerity.

“You’d really do that? Restructure your entire company for me?”

“In a heartbeat,” he smiled. “Actually, I already started the process. The Boston office lease is signed”.

“You did that before you knew my answer?”

“I did it because I know what I want now. I’m just hoping you want the same thing”.

A slow smile spread across her face.

“Yes. Yes, yes! I’ll marry you, Jackson Moore!”

She laughed through her tears.

“This is completely crazy, but yes!”

As he slipped the ring onto her finger and pulled her into his arms, Jackson felt all the pieces of his life finally falling into place.

The man who had spent years building an empire discovered that his greatest achievement might be the love he’d found on an ordinary game night.

He found it sitting beside a woman who taught him that some things were worth more than success.

One year later, they stood together on the deck of Second Opinion, now docked in Boston Harbor. Jasmine’s fellowship was going exceptionally well.

Jackson had successfully established Meridian’s East Coast headquarters nearby. They’d been married for six months.

It was a small ceremony with close friends and family, including a very smug Tyler who claimed full matchmaking credit.

“No regrets?” Jackson asked as they watched the sunset paint the sky in brilliant orange and pink.

Jasmine leaned against him, her head on his shoulder.

“Not one. Only that I spent so many years thinking work was enough”.

He kissed the top of her head.

“Thank goodness for game nights and persistent friends,” she added.

“And the courage to take chances,” he concluded, turning her toward him for a kiss that still felt like coming home.

As the last light faded from the sky, they stood together in the growing darkness. The CEO who had joined his buddy’s game night had found his heart.

Two lives were now intertwined in ways neither could have imagined that first Friday evening, when fate had seated them side by side.
