CEO Pretended to Be Broke to Test a Woman’s Love. Her Reaction Left Him Completely Speechless

The Truth and a New Beginning

Matias sat in the back booth, hands clasped together. Dia was working the late shift, weaving between tables. She was exhausted, and despite her insistence, he knew she was barely keeping it together. He couldn’t let her struggle anymore.

As she passed, he reached out, wrapping his fingers around her wrist.

“Come with me,” he said.

“Matias, I’m working.”

“Just for a minute.”

She slid into the booth across from him.

“What’s going on?”

Matias took a deep breath.

“I haven’t been honest with you. I came here under false pretenses. I told you I was just another guy looking for work, but that’s not the truth.”

“The truth is, I’m the CEO of Magnus Enterprises,” he confessed. “I run one of the largest corporations in the city. I have more money than I could ever spend in a lifetime.”

Dia’s eyes darkened, but she didn’t speak.

“I wanted to see if someone could love me for me,” he whispered. “If you could.”

Dia stared at him, then slowly stood. He reached for her hand, but she pulled away.

“I need a minute,” she whispered.

She walked out. He followed her outside. She stood beneath a street lamp.

“I never cared about money,” she said quietly. “You know that, right?”

“I know.”

“Then why didn’t you trust me?”

“I was terrified that if I told you the truth, you’d see me differently,” he admitted. “Now, I just want you to know that none of it mattered. The only thing that mattered was you.”

“I don’t know if I can just pretend this never happened,” she said.

“I don’t want you to. I just want a chance to prove that I love you. No games, no lies. Just us.”

Dia squeezed his fingers.

“You already have,” she whispered.

The next day, Matias slid a folded piece of paper across the counter.

“This is a deed,” he confirmed. “To the building.”

“Your building?”

“Yes,” Matias said softly. “Losing you would be too much.”

She looked up at him, relief and hope in her eyes. She stepped around the counter, closing the distance between them.

“You’re still an idiot,” she murmured.

Matias let out a soft chuckle.

“I know.”

When their lips met, it was steady and certain. The diner door swung open, and Gerald stepped inside.

“The board is restless,” Gerald said. “They want answers.”

“I’m not returning to business as usual,” Matias answered. “I’ve spent too many years chasing something that never truly satisfied me.”

“You’re willing to risk everything for this?” Gerald asked.

“Yes.”

Gerald sighed and left. Dia looked at Matias.

“You’re really walking away from it all?”

“Not walking away. Changing course. I want a future that has you in it.”

“You don’t have to prove anything to me, Matias,” she said. “I just need to know that when you say these things, you mean them.”

Matias pressed a gentle kiss to her knuckles.

“I mean every single word.”

“Then I guess we figure this out together,” Dia nodded.

Matias smiled. He had spent his life building an empire, but he hadn’t truly lived until now. With Dia by his side, he finally understood what it meant to have everything.
