CEO Protects A Woman From A Drunken Guest At His Resort, Not Knowing He’ll Love Her Forever

Rescue at the Azure Lounge

Kiara Dalton hadn’t even made it to the bar before the man in the wrinkled linen shirt blocked her path with a slur.

“You here alone sweetheart?”

She took a step back. The warm glow of the open air lounge suddenly felt too tight, too close. Behind her, the ocean crashed softly against the shore.

The soft jazz from the live band tried to drown out the man’s persistent voice.

“I’m just meeting someone,” Kiara said, her voice steady.

Even though her stomach twisted, she wasn’t. She’d come to the resort alone, needing space and peace to get away from the mess her life had become.

But now this stranger was crowding her, and the staff seemed too busy to notice.

“You don’t look like you’re meeting anyone,” he slurred, reaching out to touch her arm.

Before his hand could land, a larger one clamped down on his wrist.

“That’s enough.”

The voice behind her was calm, deep, and completely commanding. Kiara turned and saw a tall man in a charcoal button-down.

His sleeves were rolled to his elbows. His eyes were like steel—sharp, cool, and watching the drunk man like a hawk.

His presence was magnetic, and his voice was absolute.

The drunk man yanked his arm back. “Who the hell are you?”

“I’m the owner of this resort,” the man replied flatly, “and you’re done here.”

The security guard seemed to materialize out of nowhere, as if summoned by the man’s tone alone.

Within seconds, the drunk was being escorted out, still muttering curses under his breath. The man turned to Kiara, his expression softening.

“Are you all right?”

She nodded, still a bit breathless. “Yeah, thank you.”

“I saw him bothering you from the terrace. I should have stepped in sooner.”

He extended a hand. “I’m Asher Donovan.”

Kiara took it slowly. “Kiara Dalton.”

Asher studied her for a beat longer than necessary, his gaze lingering on her eyes.

“Come on, you shouldn’t spend the night alone after that.”

She stiffened, and he noticed immediately.

“I meant, let me get you a drink somewhere safe, on the house.”

His tone was kind, not pushy. He was still firm but softer now, protective. Kiara hesitated, then nodded.

“Okay.”

He led her through a private path behind the lounge. They went up a small staircase that opened to a rooftop terrace lit by string lights and candles in glass holders.

A breeze lifted her hair as she took in the view of ocean stars and complete quiet.

“You own this whole place?” she asked, settling into a cushioned seat as Asher poured her a glass of wine from a chilled bottle.

“I built it 10 years ago,” he said, handing her the glass. “I didn’t expect it to become what it is.”

“That explains why the staff scattered when you spoke.”

He grinned, and for the first time, she noticed the way his mouth curved just enough to make her chest tighten a little.

“They know I hate seeing guests uncomfortable, especially women being cornered by drunk idiots.”

Kiara took a sip, trying to steady herself. “Thank you again.”

Asher sat across from her. “What brings you here, Kiara Dalton?”

She hesitated. “Honestly, I needed to disappear for a while.”

He didn’t push, just nodded. “Some people come to find something, others to lose something.”

She looked up at him, suddenly curious. “Which one were you?”

Asher’s gaze turned distant. “I came here to escape, then stayed to build something better.”

The air between them quieted. Kiara leaned back, watching the stars.

“Do you always come to the rescue like that?” she asked lightly.

“No,” he said. “I don’t.”

She turned her head. “Why tonight?”

He looked at her like he hadn’t figured it out yet himself. “Because something about you made me stop everything else.”

After another long pause, Kiara whispered, “That’s a dangerous thing to say to a woman you just met, Asher Donovan.”

He leaned in slightly, his eyes still fixed on hers. “I don’t say things I don’t mean.”

She felt her cheeks warm. The wine, the stars, and the way his voice dipped slightly when he spoke her name were all too much, too fast.

“I should probably get back to my room,” she said, standing.

“I’ll walk you.”

“You don’t have to.”

“I know,” Asher said simply, rising beside her.

They walked in silence through the quiet paths of the resort, the ocean breeze trailing behind them.

When they reached her villa door, Kiara turned, her heart hammering. “Thank you for tonight.”

He gave a small nod. “Get some rest.”

She opened her door, hesitated, then turned back. “Asher?”

He looked over his shoulder.

“If I hadn’t been in trouble, would you have noticed me?”

He walked back to her slowly, stopping just a breath away. His hand reached out, not touching her, but just hovering beside her face.

“I think I would have noticed you the second you walked in.”

Kiara didn’t know what to say to that, so she said nothing. She just slipped into her room and closed the door behind her.

Her heart was racing like she’d just stepped into something entirely unexpected. Inside, she collapsed onto the bed, letting out a shaky breath.

She’d come to this island to forget everything. But now she couldn’t stop thinking about the man with the steel blue eyes and the way he’d looked at her like she meant something.
