I Was Tricked Into Dating A Half-Paralyzed Girl” – She Said, “You Don’t Have To Stay If It’s Pity”
The Encounter and Tyler’s Deception
I remember the first moment I saw her standing alone under the buzzing lights of the bowling alley holding her ball like it weighed 1,000 lb. Something in her posture made me pause.
She looked delicate almost breakable but her eyes her eyes carried a fire that didn’t match the rest of her. I didn’t know her name yet.
I didn’t know what she had been through and I definitely didn’t know that someone was about to trick me into asking her out.
But if you had told me then that this girl half paralyzed on her right side would become one of the strongest people I’d ever meet I would have laughed. Life doesn’t give you warnings it gives you moments.
You’re watching Truth Lines USA where real stories remind us what truly matters. Her name was Lily.
I learned that from Tyler one of my co-workers who was always trying to play matchmaker. I didn’t take him seriously but that night he nudged me and whispered “Dude she’s into you.”
I raised an eyebrow “really you sure about that?”
“Positive,” he said “she asked about you earlier said you looked nice.”
I didn’t believe him but curiosity got the better of me. I walked over introduced myself and for a moment just one moment I thought Tyler was right.
Her smile was soft shy and strangely steady. We talked for a few minutes small talk mostly but something about her felt different not forced not rehearsed just honest.
Then I noticed the slight drag in her right leg when she walked. I noticed how she used her left hand for everything even things people normally did with their right.
I didn’t ask it felt rude and she didn’t bring it up. At the end of the night I asked if she wanted to grab coffee sometime.
Her eyes widened like I’d said something unbelievable.
“really?” she asked quietly.
I laughed a little “yeah really.”
Looking back I should have realized something was off right then. But I was too focused on how nervous she seemed and how something in me wanted to ease that nervousness.
