Millionaire Returns Home Early… and Can’t Hold Back Tears After Seeing the Nanny with the Quadruplet

The Secret Celebration

Through the large kitchen windows, he could see movement and hear the sound of children’s laughter. It was the kind of laughter that bubbles up from pure joy. Robert stood at the window looking in, and what he saw made him stop completely.

Diana stood in the middle of the kitchen in her nanny uniform, holding a golden cake with a single lit candle. His four daughters sat around the table in colorful dresses, all of them clapping and cheering with the biggest smiles on their faces.

It wasn’t a birthday; none of the girls had birthdays in January. Robert’s hand reached for the door handle, then stopped. He watched instead.

“Make a wish, Emma,” Diana was saying, her voice gentle and full of affection.

Emma closed her eyes tight, thought for a moment, then blew out the candle. The other three girls erupted in cheers and Diana laughed along with them.

“What did you wish for?” Sophie asked.

“She can’t tell or it won’t come true,” Lily said seriously.

“That’s right,” Diana agreed, cutting the cake into neat slices.

“But I can tell you what I wish. I wish for all four of you to know how special you are, how smart and kind and wonderful.”

“Diana,” Grace said quietly, “can we call you Aunt Diana?”

Robert saw Diana’s hand still for just a moment. Then she knelt down beside Grace’s chair at eye level with the little girl.

“Sweetheart, you can call me whatever feels right to you,” Diana said softly.

“I’m honored you would want to.”

“Our mama’s not here anymore,” Emma said matter-of-factly, though her voice was small.

“But you’re here.”

“I am here,” Diana said.

“And I’m not going anywhere, I promise.”
