My Father Assaulted Me At Dinner — Now He’s Facing Prison Time
Part 2
My father’s face completely drained of all its usual imposing color.
He stared blankly at the small glowing screen, his mouth hanging slightly open in shock.
“What is that?” he demanded, his voice lacking its usual terrifying confidence.
“A camera,” I replied simply, wiping a fresh streak of warm blood from my bruised chin.
Heather crossed her arms tightly over her chest, adopting her usual defensive posture.
“You cannot record people without their explicit permission, you paranoid lunatic.”
I kept my steady eyes locked completely on the man who had just violently kicked me.
“It is my private house, Heather, and my personal security camera.”
My mother suddenly rushed forward, her hands fluttering nervously in the tense space.
“Megan, honey, let’s just sit down calmly and talk about this like rational adults.”
I took a deliberate step backward, keeping myself entirely out of her desperate reach.
“There is absolutely nothing left for us to talk about.”
My father pointed a noticeably trembling finger directly at the phone in my hand.
“Delete that entire video right now before you do something incredibly stupid.”
I slipped the device back into my pocket, ignoring his pathetic attempt at intimidation.
“It is already securely backed up to an encrypted off-site server that you cannot access.”
He took an aggressive step toward me, but stopped abruptly when I fundamentally refused to flinch.
“You have absolutely no idea what you are actually doing,” he growled.
“I know exactly what I am doing,” I told him, my voice remaining remarkably steady.
“I am finally holding you fully accountable for your actions.”
Heather scoffed loudly, attempting to dismiss the undeniable gravity of the situation.
“Over a tiny disagreement?”
“You are really going to destroy this entire family over nothing?”
I turned my head very slowly, meeting her hateful glare with absolute conviction.
“If you take even one single step closer to me, I will make sure the police know you stood there and watched.”
She froze instantly, the remaining color completely washing out of her smug face.
I pointed definitively toward the front door, leaving absolutely no room for further negotiation.
“Get out of my house immediately.”
Nobody moved a single muscle for a long, utterly agonizing second as the reality set in.
My father locked eyes with me, waiting for me to back down.
I gripped the cast-iron serving dish from the center of the table.
“I said get out!”
My mother scrambled toward the hallway, grabbing her expensive coat.
Heather followed behind her, casting one last dark glance over her shoulder.
My father stayed planted for a brief moment longer, his chest heaving with silent indignation.
“You will regret this decision, Megan.” He took a single step toward the hallway.
I tightened my grip on the cast-iron dish, the metal cold against my sweaty palms.
“The only thing I truly regret is not doing it years sooner.”
He turned and walked out the front door.
I followed them out, slamming the heavy wooden door shut.
I quickly slid the solid brass deadbolt securely into place, locking them out forever.
My trembling knees immediately buckled underneath me as the protective adrenaline finally began to fade.
I slid slowly down the solid wall, clutching my severely bruised ribs in the sudden quiet.
Tyler and Katie rushed over immediately, throwing their small, terrified arms tightly around my neck.
I held them incredibly tight, whispering repeatedly that we were all finally safe.
As I listened to my father’s heavy car speed recklessly away, my phone vibrated with a mysterious message.
“You think this is over?” the ominous text from an unknown number read.
“I haven’t even started.”
How far would my family truly go to bury the damning evidence before the police finally arrived?
