My Fiancé Left Me For A Human — Now I'm Pregnant And Mated To His Alpha Brother

Part 1

Staring across the cafe table, I traced the rim of my latte.

“I’m sorry,” Brian whispered.

Those words offered no comfort against the weight in my chest.

Pity radiated from his shoulders, replacing the warmth of his gaze.

Five years of courtship had vanished in an instant.

My wedding dress hung uselessly in my closet, awaiting a bite that would never come.

Instead of sealing our bond, my fiancé had met Heather.

A fragile human girl had completely derailed my future in less than a week.

Her only qualification was being his faded mate.

Faded bonds were legendary among our kind, connections impossible to ignore.

Logically, his inner wolf left him no choice in the matter.

That understanding did nothing to stop the splintering of my heart.

“She’s a human,” I reminded him, my voice barely concealing a tremor.

“You won’t even be allowed to live among the pack anymore.”

Squeezing his eyes shut, Brian dragged a heavy hand over his face.

“I know,” he breathed out, defeat practically rolling off him in waves.

“You’d understand if you had a faded bond.”

Snatching my purse off the table, I scrambled to my feet.

Decades of friendship and trust had just been washed down the drain.

“Does your brother know yet?” I asked.

Brian’s spine went straight at the mention of his sibling.

Tyler wasn’t just anybody in our insular world.

As our Alpha, he demanded obedience through sheer presence.

“He’s your Alpha, and you will refer to him as such,” Brian scolded.

Rolling my eyes, I turned on my heel.

A firm grip on my wrist halted my retreat.

“Will you help us?” he asked softly.

Bile rose sharply in the back of my throat.

“We need your help to convince the Alpha to accept Heather,” he begged.

He actually expected me to advocate for the woman who stole my life.

Yanking my arm free, I stormed out of the coffee shop.

A week later, my nightmare materialized on a plastic stick.

Two pink lines confirmed my worst fears.

Carrying Brian’s child meant facing pack laws regarding unwed mothers.

Failing to secure a mate would guarantee my banishment.

Raising a shifter baby alone was practically a death sentence.

Confessing the truth to Brian wasn’t an option.

Pack law would force him to abandon his mate to marry me.

Trapping him in a loveless prison went against my being.

That night, my stepmother Brenda dragged me to the Alpha’s estate.

“Stand up straight,” she hissed, her nails digging into my arm.

“We are finding you a mate tonight.”

Tugging at the hem of my red dress, I entered the grand ballroom.

Over a hundred wolves turned their eyes in my direction.

Pity and mockery mingled in the air.

Heat flooded my cheeks as I sought refuge near the bar.

Suddenly, a thick wave of primal power blanketed the room.

The crowd parted seamlessly as Tyler strode into the ballroom.

Towering over the other wolves, our Alpha scanned the room with dark eyes.

A sharp jawline framed his devastatingly handsome face.

Shrinking back into the shadows, I prayed to avoid his piercing gaze.

Mutual hatred had always defined our interactions.

Sneers and disgust were his usual reactions to my relationship with his brother.

Ignoring his usual flock of admirers, he marched toward my corner.

“Follow me,” he commanded, leaving no room for argument.

Trailing behind him, I stepped into his imposing private office.

“So my brother dumped you for a human,” Tyler drawled, strolling toward a decanter.

Pouring himself a glass of amber liquid, he leaned against his desk.

My fingernails bit painfully into the palms of my hands.

“I assume you’re thrilled,” I shot back, lifting my chin.

A dark smirk played on his lips as he took a slow sip.

Closing the distance between us, his scent of pine and smoke invaded my lungs.

“I’ll compile a list of potential suitors for you,” he offered coldly.

“Unless you had someone specific in mind.”

Blind desperation made me reckless.

Securing the best protection for my baby overrode common sense.

“What about you?” I blurted out.

Choking on his drink, Tyler stared at me in disbelief.

“You obviously don’t want to settle down,” I rambled, my face burning.

“If we mated, you could keep entertaining your little harem of women.”

“I wouldn’t care at all.”

Suffocating silence stretched between us.

Those dark eyes shifted to a terrifying pitch-black hue.

“You’re really that desperate,” he finally mocked.

His cruel observation struck me harder than a physical blow.

Spinning around, I fled his office with tears burning my eyes.

No one in this pack was a bigger fool than me.

An hour later, I was hiding in the gardens when a pack assembly was called.

Slipping back into the ballroom, I positioned myself far from the stage.

Tyler stood at the podium, surveying his silent people.

“It’s high time I take a mate,” he announced, his voice echoing loudly.

Excited cheers erupted instantly from the crowd.

Hopeful women began fixing their hair and adjusting their dresses.

“I’d like you all to witness my mating ceremony tonight,” Tyler continued.

Stepping forward, the pack priest looked entirely bewildered.

“Who is the lucky lady, Alpha?” the priest asked, his voice shaking slightly.

Sweeping his gaze over the crowd, Tyler let the tension build.

A wicked, dangerous smile curved his perfect lips.

And then, in front of the entire pack, our Alpha pointed his finger directly at me.
