My Sister Tried to Have My Kids Taken Away — She Didn’t Expect CPS to Laugh at Her

Part 2

The realization hit me so hard I actually had to grip the edge of the kitchen counter just to stay on my feet.

The person who called child protective services on my family was my very own sister, Heather.

She had spent Christmas Eve sleeping over at our house with her fiance, Dan, helping us set up toys from Santa.

She was the exact person sitting in our living room who could have maliciously twisted Brian’s quiet talk with our son into a tale of drunken rage.

Ironically, she was also the only person who drank an entire eighteen-pack of beer by herself that holiday night.

She is a massive health food fanatic, constantly judging my pantry because I buy jarred pasta sauce and canned beans instead of organic vegan salads.

I waited two agonizing days to gather my scattered thoughts before I finally texted her, asking if she had a few minutes for a serious phone call.

She called me back almost instantly, her voice dripping with this strange, over-the-top sweetness that immediately put me on edge.

I took a deep, shaky breath and told her I needed her to be completely honest with me about the CPS investigation.

She didn’t even try to deny it, instantly dropping the sweet act and adopting a tone of arrogant, indignant pride.

She coldly stated that if I was asking the question, I already knew the answer, and proudly admitted she made the report.

I asked her if she had any idea what could have happened to my children if the social worker hadn’t been so understanding.

Instead of showing even a tiny sliver of remorse, she immediately started screaming directly into the receiver.

She ranted that Brian and I didn’t deserve to be parents and claimed I obviously didn’t care about my kids at all.

Her voice was incredibly slurred, her harsh words stumbling over each other in a way that made it obvious she had been drinking heavily again.

I tried to interject, to ask her why she would invent such vicious lies about us starving our children, but she refused to let me speak.

She just kept yelling incoherently about how she cared more about my kids than anyone else in the world.

I calmly told her that if she wasn’t going to let me get a single word in, I was going to hang up the phone.

She scoffed aggressively and told me she didn’t care what I did, rambling on about her own twisted sense of moral superiority.

I pressed the end call button, blocked her number across every platform, and sat on the edge of my bed crying.

I spent years defending her erratic behavior to the rest of our relatives, always assuming she had a good heart underneath it all.

Now I realize she was just harboring a deep, toxic jealousy that finally boiled over when I was at my most vulnerable.

I immediately called our father to tell him what happened, and I could hear his heart breaking through the phone.

He promised to call her to try and calm her down, but the profound damage she caused to our family is already permanent.

She is officially dead to me now, but how do you ever fully recover when your own sister tries to have your children taken away?
