My Wife Left Her Laptop Open — The 100 Links I Found Destroyed Our Marriage

Part 1
I never meant to pry into Brenda’s digital life.
It started with something as innocent as a dead battery on my own laptop.
I needed to check an urgent work email before I could finally go to bed.
Her MacBook was sitting right there on the kitchen island.
The screen was still glowing softly in the dark room.
I nudged the trackpad, expecting to see her Pinterest boards or an online shopping cart.
Instead, a plain text document was minimized at the very bottom of the screen.
The file name was just a random string of numbers.
My curiosity immediately got the better of me.
I clicked the icon.
What opened was a list of exactly one hundred YouTube links.
There was absolutely no context.
There were no notes, descriptions, or titles.
It was just a seemingly endless column of blue text stretching down the page.
I grabbed my coffee mug and pulled out a barstool.
The house was completely silent except for the low hum of the refrigerator.
Brenda was fast asleep upstairs in our bedroom.
I highlighted the first link and pasted it into a new tab.
The video loaded slowly.
It was a mundane vlog from a channel with barely any subscribers.
A teenager was reviewing a new flavor of energy drink outside a local mall.
I scrubbed through the timeline, feeling confused.
Then I saw it.
At the two-minute mark, a figure walked casually through the background.
It was Brenda.
She was wearing her favorite red winter coat.
She stopped near a trash can and dropped a small white envelope inside.
I froze.
The teenager kept talking enthusiastically about caffeine content.
I immediately rewound the video.
I watched her do it again.
My heart began to pound against my ribs.
I quickly copied the second link.
This one was a live street camera feed from a city three states away.
The timestamp on the video was from two years ago.
I fast-forwarded through hours of boring traffic.
Suddenly, there she was again.
Brenda was sitting alone on a park bench.
A man in a dark suit sat down next to her.
They didn’t look at each other at all.
They didn’t even speak a single word.
She simply slipped a USB drive onto the space between them and walked away.
My mouth went completely dry.
I simply didn’t understand what I was seeing.
My wife was a boring accountant at a local firm.
She spent her weekends gardening and baking sourdough bread.
She hated any form of confrontation and routinely cried during laundry detergent commercials.
Yet here she was, acting exactly like an operative in a spy novel.
I opened the third link.
It was a home repair tutorial video about fixing a leaky sink.
In the background reflection of a bathroom mirror, Brenda was clearly visible.
She was arguing silently with someone standing off-camera.
Her face was twisted in a fury I had never seen before.
I opened the fourth link.
Then I opened the fifth.
Then the tenth.
Every single video was completely different.
Every single one contained a brief, hidden glimpse of Brenda.
Some were uploads from tourists exploring European cities.
Some were seemingly random drone footage of suburban neighborhoods.
Some were amateur concert recordings with terrible audio quality.
In every single video, she was making drops, having tense arguments, or handing over strange objects.
I felt like the floor was tilting violently beneath my feet.
I checked the upload dates on the videos.
They spanned over a decade.
That meant she was doing this before we even met.
She was doing this while we were actively dating.
She was doing this on the very day we got married.
I thought about our wedding day.
She had disappeared for two hours right before the reception.
She claimed she had a panic attack in the bridal suite.
Now I wondered what she was really doing.
I thought about all the sudden business trips she took.
She always claimed it was for tax audits.
Now I knew she was lying.
I scrolled down the list of links.
There were still so many links left to check.
My hands were shaking so badly I could barely use the laptop’s trackpad.
I needed to know the truth.
I desperately needed to understand who the woman sleeping upstairs really was.
I skipped the middle section of the document entirely.
I scrolled all the way down to the very bottom.
The hundredth link was isolated from the rest of the list.
It had a completely different formatting, highlighted in bold text.
I took a deep, trembling breath.
I copied the final URL and pasted it into the browser.
The page loaded a private, unlisted live stream.
The camera angle was positioned high up, looking down at a very familiar scene.
It was our own living room.
I could see the couch, the television, and the kitchen island.
I could clearly see myself sitting on the barstool.
I stared at the screen, and the man on the screen stared back at his laptop.
I slowly lifted my right hand.
The man on the screen lifted his right hand in perfect synchronization.
I realized the hidden camera was located inside the smoke detector directly above my head.
The viewer count in the top right corner of the video player said there were currently three thousand people watching me.
