She Answers Her Billionaire Boss’s Forgotten Phone — Not Knowing She’s About To Save Him From A Trap
The Boardroom Showdown and a New Beginning
They took a nondescript SUV, borrowed from the building manager. Emma explained why she had taken an assistant job despite her engineering degree.
“My father’s company collapsed because a corporation falsified data,” she said. “I wanted to understand how power works from the inside”.
“You’ve never been warm, Mr. Barrett, but I’ve never seen you be cruel or dishonest”. “Thank you, Emma. That is a genuine compliment,” he replied.
They arrived at a modern timber and glass cabin designed by Sarah. Alexander immediately began compiling a presentation for the board.
Emma noticed a photo of Alexander, Sarah, and Marcus looking happy together. “The police are now involved,” another threatening text warned.
“They’re escalating,” Alexander said, assembling his case. “It’s enough to create reasonable doubt about Marcus’ motive”.
He revealed Marcus was on the board of Sarah’s memorial foundation. Alexander accessed the foundation records and found three suspicious test transfers.
“Marcus made a critical mistake,” Alexander said, showing the access logs. “Concrete proof that he falsified documents using my credentials”.
Two black SUVs appeared in the drive. They escaped through the back to a shed containing a powerful motorcycle.
“Hold tight and lean when I lean,” Alexander told her. They roared away just as shouts came from the cabin.
Alexander navigated winding forest roads with practiced precision. He wove through a deer path to lose their pursuers.
They reached the city and went to Alexander’s private tailor, Giovanni. “Giovanni, I need your help urgently. We have twenty-two minutes”.
They emerged transformed in designer business attire. “Thank you, Emma, for everything,” Alexander said before checking his phone.
Vanessa Kirby texted that the board had assembled early and Marcus was presenting. They rushed to Barrett Tower, where security had been tightened.
“I built this building. There’s always another way,” Alexander said. They used a freight elevator with help from a loyal guard named Frank.
“We’ll have one chance,” Alexander said as the elevator ascended. “I won’t go down without a fight”.
They burst into the boardroom just as Marcus moved for a vote. “I believe that would be premature, Marcus,” Alexander announced.
The room froze in shock as Alexander strode to the head of the table. “Ms. Taylor has been instrumental in uncovering a conspiracy,” he told the board.
For fifteen minutes, he methodically dismantled Marcus’ case with metadata and logs. He revealed Marcus’ hidden energy investments as the motive.
“This is absurd!” Marcus cracked. But Vanessa Kirby stood, producing her own verifying evidence.
The board voted unanimously to retain Alexander and investigate Marcus. Security escorted Marcus from the premises as the crisis ended.
“You saved more than just a company today, Emma. You saved trust,” Alexander said. He offered her a new role as Environmental Director.
“I’d be honored,” she replied. Alexander’s smile reached his eyes.
Three months later, they stood together at the holiday party at Westlake Mansion. The Meridian integration was proceeding ahead of schedule.
“You reminded me that some people are worth trusting,” Alexander said quietly. He asked her to dinner, not as colleagues, but as friends.
Emma smiled, agreeing to the invitation. One forgotten phone had opened the door to a future neither had expected.
