She Mistakenly Parked in His Reserved Spot. Not Knowing He Was a Billionaire Who’d Fall For Her Soon
Breaking the Rules for Love
Maya hadn’t expected to see Vince the next morning. She went home with too many thoughts, replaying every moment. Something between them felt like it was shifting.
But Vince Callaway was a man who never let emotions dictate his actions. She expected business as usual. She was wrong. Her phone buzzed with a message from his assistant.
Vince wanted to see her. When she entered, he was by the window, hands in his pockets.
“You handled yourself well,” he said, not turning around.
Maya folded her arms.
“You already said that.”
He finally turned. For a brief second, something flickered—something almost hesitant.
“I have another event this weekend,” he said. “I want you there.”
Maya blinked.
“Another one?”
“This one is different. It’s not business. It’s personal.”
That caught her off guard. Vince Callaway was known for keeping his private life out of the spotlight. The fact that he was inviting her into it meant something.
“Why me?” she asked.
He stepped closer, his presence consuming the space between them.
“Because I trust you.”
Her breath caught. Trust wasn’t something he gave easily. She had somehow crossed an invisible line into a place he didn’t let many people reach.
“Okay,” she said finally. “I’ll go.”
Vince’s gaze lingered before he nodded. Something between them shifted again. The event was held at a sprawling estate outside the city. It whispered quiet, effortless elegance.
Maya stepped out of the car into the cool evening air. Lush gardens lined the entrance, soft golden lights casting a warm glow. Vince was waiting for her, looking impossibly polished.
When he saw her, his expression softened slightly. He offered his arm. She hesitated for only a second before taking it. Whispers followed.
This time, the attention wasn’t just on Vince. It was on her.
“Callaway never brings anyone to these things,” someone said.
Maya kept her head high. Vince leaned in slightly, his voice low.
“They’re curious. Let them be.”
His steadiness grounded her. They stopped near a group of older men. One, with silver hair and sharp eyes, turned to Maya.
“You must be the reason Vince has been so distracted lately.”
Maya froze. Vince didn’t miss a beat.
“Maya is more than capable of holding her own.”
The man chuckled.
“I don’t doubt it. She wouldn’t be here otherwise.”
The evening continued. Vince never strayed too far from her side. They found a quieter corner near the edge of the garden.
“You really live in a different world,” Maya said.
Vince studied her.
“Does it bother you?”
She thought about that for a moment.
“No, but it’s unfamiliar.”
“You don’t belong to this world, but you don’t shy away from it either.”
She tilted her head.
“Is that a compliment?”
A ghost of a smile touched his lips. Before she could respond, Richard interrupted.
“We need a word, Vince.”
Vince’s jaw tightened. Maya took that as her cue to step away. As she moved toward the crowd, she felt the pull growing stronger.
She reached the edge of the terrace when a voice pulled her from her thoughts.
“You must be Maya.”
She turned to find an elegant, imposing woman.
“And you are?”
“Eleanor Callaway.”
Vince’s mother. Maya’s pulse stumbled.
“You’re different from the women who usually accompany my son,” Eleanor observed.
“I’m not accompanying him. I work for him.”
Eleanor’s gaze remained steady.
“Do you?”
Maya didn’t flinch.
“Yes.”
“Walk with me,” Eleanor said.
Maya followed her along the garden’s edge.
“My son is not a man who lets people in easily,” Eleanor said. “Power changes people. It isolates them.”
“He doesn’t seem isolated to me.”
“Because you see him differently. That makes you dangerous.”
Maya frowned.
“I’m not a threat to him.”
“No, but you are a disruption. And Vince doesn’t do well with disruptions.”
Maya met her gaze.
“I didn’t ask for any of this.”
“Perhaps not, but that doesn’t change what’s happening.”
Maya’s stomach tightened.
“What exactly do you think is happening?”
“That’s what I intend to find out.”
A voice cut through the night.
“Is there a reason you’re interrogating my employee, mother?”
Vince strode toward them. Eleanor didn’t blink.
“Just getting to know her.”
Vince’s gaze flicked to Maya.
“Are you all right?”
Maya nodded. Eleanor smiled, though it didn’t reach her eyes.
“You’ve changed, Vince.”
“I suppose time will tell if that’s a good thing,” he replied.
She walked back toward the party. Vince exhaled sharply.
“She shouldn’t have cornered you like that.”
“It’s fine,” Maya said.
“What did she say?”
Maya hesitated.
“That I’m a disruption.”
His expression darkened.
“She had no right.”
“Is she wrong?” Maya cut in. “Because I think we both know something is shifting between us.”
Vince took a step closer, the space between them vanishing.
“You have no idea what you’re stepping into.”
“Then explain it to me,” she challenged.
He exhaled after an eternity.
“I don’t let people in. Not easily. Not without reason.”
Maya’s heart pounded.
“And me?”
“You make me want to break my own rules.”
The air crackled. A voice called from the terrace.
“Vince, we need you inside.”
He hesitated.
“This isn’t over,” he said quietly.
Maya stood there, knowing nothing would ever be the same again. She barely slept that night. She arrived at the office the next morning, but Vince was nowhere to be seen.
She threw herself into work. By late afternoon, she finally saw him. He barely glanced in her direction before disappearing into his office.
She waited until the day was nearly over. She marched toward his office and stepped inside.
“Are we going to talk about what happened last night?”
Vince looked up from his desk.
“I don’t know what you want me to say.”
“How about the truth?”
“The truth is I shouldn’t have said what I did.”
Her chest ached.
“So you regret it?”
He hesitated.
“No. But that doesn’t mean this is a good idea.”
Maya stepped closer.
“Why not?”
“Because I don’t do relationships. I don’t get involved. And you…”
He stood, rounding the desk.
“You’ve been in my head since the moment you parked in my space.”
“Then stop fighting it.”
He closed the distance. His hand brushed hers. She didn’t pull away. The next second, his lips were on hers.
The kiss was fierce, consuming weeks of tension. Maya tangled her fingers in his suit. When they broke apart, Vince rested his forehead against hers.
“I don’t know how to do this,” he admitted.
Maya smiled softly.
“Then we’ll figure it out together.”
“Dinner?” he said. “Tonight.”
“Like a date?”
“Exactly like a date.”
The weeks that followed were a whirlwind. They had dinners at exclusive restaurants and weekend getaways. He let his walls down piece by piece.
He listened to her ideas and challenged her. One evening, as they walked through the city, she realized she was in love with him.
One night, on the rooftop of his building, he turned to her.
“I love you.”
The words were quiet.
“You do?”
“I do.”
“Good. Because I love you too.”
Months later, he took her back to that rooftop. There were candles and a private dinner. He got down on one knee.
“Marry me, Maya. Be my forever.”
“Yes.”
The wedding was breathtaking, held in a glass-walled venue overlooking the ocean. It was a night of love and laughter. During their first dance, Vince pulled her close.
“I never knew I could have this,” he admitted.
Maya smiled.
“You can. You do.”
They swayed together under the twinkling lights. Maya knew this was forever.
