She Was Tasked to Redesign His Mansion, Not Knowing the Owner Was Millionaire Falling for Her Smile

A Golden Opportunity at Clearwater Mansion

The chime of Vera Henderson’s phone rang out like a siren call, breaking her concentration. She was putting the finishing touches on a small-scale interior renovation project with paint-stained hands.

She swiped to answer, not realizing that the voice on the other end would change the entire trajectory of her career and her heart.

“Miss Henderson, this is Patricia Wilson from Clarkson Estates.”

“We’ve reviewed your portfolio extensively, and we’d like to offer you the opportunity to redesign the Clearwater Mansion.”

The property had recently changed ownership, and the new owner was looking for a complete interior overhaul.

“Are you interested?”

Vera nearly dropped her phone. Clearwater Mansion was one of the most prestigious properties in the area. It was a sprawling estate that had graced the covers of architectural magazines for decades.

At thirty-two, she had built a respectable reputation as an interior designer. However, this project would catapult her career to an entirely new level.

“Absolutely, I’d be thrilled to take on the project,” Vera responded.

She tried to maintain her composure despite her racing heart.

“When would you like me to start?”

“The owner would like to meet with you tomorrow to discuss his vision.”

The mansion had been vacant for some time, and he was eager to begin renovations as soon as possible.

After hanging up, Vera spent the entire night researching the history of Clearwater Mansion. She studied its original blueprints and prepared a preliminary presentation of ideas.

Sleep was a luxury she couldn’t afford. Her dream opportunity had just landed in her lap.

The next morning, she navigated her modest sedan up the winding driveway. The gravel crunched beneath her tires. The estate was even more magnificent in person.

It was a grand colonial-style structure with imposing columns and expansive windows that reflected the morning sun. Despite its grandeur, Vera could see that time had not been kind to the once majestic property.

Peeling paint, overgrown gardens, and an air of neglect suggested that the mansion was desperate for revival.

As she stepped out of her car with her portfolio clutched tightly to her chest, a tall figure emerged from the main entrance. Her breath caught in her throat.

The man approaching her exuded an effortless confidence that matched the grandeur of the mansion itself. He was broad-shouldered with a strong jawline and piercing blue eyes.

He wore a simple button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up. His forearms suggested he wasn’t afraid of physical labor. His dark hair was slightly tousled by the breeze, giving him a casually disheveled look that somehow seemed intentional.

“Miss Henderson,” his voice was deep and resonant. “I’m Griffin Caldwell. Thank you for coming on such short notice.”

Vera extended her hand, hoping he wouldn’t notice her slightly trembling fingers.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Caldwell. I’m excited about the opportunity to work on such an iconic property.”

His handshake was firm but not overbearing.

“Please call me Griffin. I hope you’ll still be excited after you see the state of the place. It needs quite a bit of work.”
