She’s a Hotel Receptionist Checking in Guests, Unaware of Charming Millionaire Who’d Fall For Her

A Chance Encounter at the Bellrest
Lena Brooks adjusted her blazer and forced a polite smile as the next guest approached the front desk. The Bellrest Hotel lobby buzzed with activity. Businessmen checked in, tourists snapped photos of the crystal chandelier, and staff hurried past with silver trays and fresh linens.
It was just another night at the most luxurious hotel in the city.
“Welcome to the Bellrest,” she said smoothly, fingers hovering over the keyboard.
“Do you have a reservation?”
The man in front of her tilted his head slightly, amusement flickering in his deep green eyes. He was tall, effortlessly confident, and way too handsome for her peace of mind. He was the kind of man who belonged in a penthouse suite, not standing in front of her.
He was watching her with an intensity that made her shift on her feet.
“Kai Kensington,” he said, his voice rich and smooth.
“I believe I have a reservation.”
Lena typed his name into the system, her fingers moving on instinct as her brain scrambled to process just how good-looking he was. He had a sharp jawline and tousled dark hair. Broad shoulders filled out his expensive charcoal suit perfectly.
He looked like he walked out of a magazine, and he knew it.
“Ah, yes, Mr. Kensington,” she confirmed, scanning the details.
“You’re in the penthouse suite.”
“Perfect.”
His lips curled slightly, and something about the way he looked at her made her stomach tighten. She handed him the key card, careful not to let their fingers touch.
“Your room is on the top floor. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call the front desk.”
Kai accepted the key but didn’t move right away. Instead, he leaned slightly on the counter, studying her like she was a mystery he wanted to solve.
“Do you always look this serious when you check guests in?” he asked, his tone teasing.
Lena blinked.
“Excuse me?”
“You look like you take this job very seriously,” he mused.
“Which is admirable, but I bet you’d be even more stunning if you smiled.”
Her lips parted slightly in surprise, heat creeping up her neck. Who was this man, and why did he think he could just waltz in, stay in a ridiculously expensive penthouse, and throw out compliments like that?
“I take my job seriously because I have to,” she said, keeping her tone professional.
His gaze lingered for a second too long before he finally nodded, as if committing her to memory.
“I’ll see you around, Lena.”
Her breath caught; she hadn’t told him her name. Then, before she could question it, he turned and walked toward the elevator, disappearing behind the golden doors.
Lena tried to forget about Kai Kensington. Really, she did. But it was impossible when he seemed to be everywhere.
