Single Dad Saves CEO Mid-Flight — What Happens After Lands Him in Tears

A Life Saved and a Flight Missed

Minutes later, a sudden thump echoed through the quiet cabin. Richard’s laptop slid off the tray table as his hands shook violently before his body went limp, collapsing sideways.

The woman beside him screamed, “He’s not breathing!” Chaos broke loose.

The attendants rushed, calling for medical help, “Is there a doctor on board?” No one responded.

Laya tugged on her father’s sleeve, “Daddy, he’s dying.” Miles hesitated.

He wasn’t a doctor, but he had learned first aid years ago at a local workshop. “Stay here, sweetheart,” he said, standing up.

“Sir, move aside,” he pushed through the panicked crowd and knelt beside the CEO. His hands trembled, but he forced himself to stay calm.

He checked Richard’s pulse, which was faint but there. “He’s having a heart attack,” Miles said quickly, “Get me the first aid kit now!”

The attendants followed his orders. He started chest compressions, counting under his breath: “1, 2, 3, 4.”

Sweat dripped down his forehead. People stared, some praying and others recording.

After endless seconds, Richard gasped sharply, his chest rising. He was alive, but barely.

Miles stayed beside him, keeping him breathing until they made an emergency landing in Chicago. When the medics arrived, they asked who had helped, and everyone pointed at Miles, the man in the flannel shirt.

Hours later, after Richard was stabilized at the hospital, Miles sat in the waiting area with Laya, unsure if he’d done enough. He had missed their connecting flight to Boston, but he didn’t care.

He looked at Laya’s disappointed face and said, “We’ll get there later, okay? You did great today.” She smiled weakly and leaned against his shoulder.

A nurse approached, “Mr. Turner, the patient wants to see you.” Miles entered the room quietly.

Richard looked pale but awake, with tubes running from his arms and machines beeping steadily. “You saved my life,” Richard said, his voice weak, “Who are you?”

“Just a mechanic from Greenville,” Miles replied, embarrassed, “Did what I could.” Richard chuckled softly, “Well, you did more than anyone else.”

“Thank you,” Miles nodded, “Rest up, sir.” As he turned to leave, Richard asked, “Was that your daughter out there?”

“The little one?” “Yes, sir.”

“Laya, she’s the reason you stood up, isn’t she?” Miles smiled faintly, “She’s the reason I do everything.”
