The car was leaking fuel. “if you hadn’t pulled me out and stayed with me until help came I don’t know what would have happened.”
Lily’s lips parted, “i just did what anyone would do.” Victoria shook her head, “no sweetheart most people would pass by you chose compassion over your own dreams.”
Lily lowered her eyes, “it cost me my exam.” Victoria’s smile faded into seriousness, “yes and that’s why I’m here.”
She stood up straight and looked at Ethan, “mr walker I run an educational foundation.” “every year we sponsor students who demonstrate exceptional character not just academic excellence.”
“what are you saying?” Ethan’s heart pounded. Victoria looked back at Lily with warmth so sincere it softened the air around her.
“i want to offer Lily a full scholarship,” she said. All her school years would be covered including tuition, books, and supplies.
Lily gasped. Ethan’s eyes filled instantly, “uh are you serious?”
“Absolutely the world needs more people like your daughter it’s my honor.” Lily covered her mouth as tears spilled.

It would be a stable position with a good salary and regular hours so he could spend more time with his daughter. Ethan felt his knees weaken.
