My daughter banned me from her wedding but invited her deadbeat dad to walk her down the aisle

The Unraveling Wedding and the Final Realization

“Wait, what?” she asked. I shrugged.

“If I’m not family enough to be at the wedding, then I’m not family enough to foot the bill.” She stammered, “But… but the deposits, the venue, the catering!”

I picked up my plate and took it to the sink. I started washing it like nothing had happened.

“That sounds like a problem for your real dad.” The wedding was in shambles.

Frank, unsurprisingly, didn’t have the money to step up. They tried to scramble for alternatives, but most vendors wouldn’t budge without the final payment.

Guests began getting notifications about changes to the reception. The grand wedding she had envisioned collapsed overnight.

Amanda reached out in a teary call saying she had made a mistake. She said she had let her emotions cloud her judgment and that she wanted me there.

But the damage was done. I didn’t go.

I later heard Frank walked her down the aisle in a cheap rental suit. In true fashion, he bailed halfway through the reception.

He left her humiliated and disappointed once again. Actions have consequences.

I may have lost the title of father in her eyes. But I finally realized she had lost the right to call me one.
